In a country where some members of the forum think there is no corruption compared to France...that sounds like a PFI job to me.
License to fleece. You can't send in another contractor or allow staff to replace a lightbulb.

That's exactly what I was going to say. We get a lot more drug reps chartering yachts than doctors or nurses... Nurses can't afford it, doctors have not got time...I bet some pharma reps make a good living out of the NHS.
Jamaica isn't corrupt at side of France.Depends where you look tho. (I was joking of course but my smileys don't work)In a country where some members of the forum think there is no corruption compared to France...
Everywhere has a huge corruption problem, including the UK. As I posted very recently, I spent my last 17 working years coping with it here.Anybody who thinks France does not have quite a big corruption problem hasn't actually looked.
The argument presented by Tilson is more persuading than that a specific package of a drug cost a lot... . Anybody who has worked in a government organisation be it the armed forces, education or health will have similar stories to tell. More money and effort being expended to ensure that fraud does not occur than would be lost if it were allowed to occur on a major scale! One of things I can not understand about NHS is its willingness to pay exorbitant prices for many cheap medications. There was a report other day about them paying £113 for a pack of tablets available for under £5 abroad. The NHS is one of largest organisations in the world, pharmaceutical companies amongst the richest. If NHS was private or run correctly it would be making its own medications where possible. Obviously, it couldn't make all it required and I, ve heard the myth that pharmaceutical companies need vast profits to fund drug development but come on. When Ford needs new nuts and bolts do you think they get ripped off buying them. Of course not, but if they did, they would make their own.
Agreed flecc but 8th in World ranking is better than 23rd...(According to Transparency International)Everywhere has a huge corruption problem, including the UK. As I posted very recently, I spent my last 17 working years coping with it here.
It's universal human nature to look for opportunities to make money and some will always succumb to temptation.
.
Then you haven't been dealing with the construction industry here to any extent.I, ve probably been fortunate in UK but not come across any type of corruption first hand.
No, you are right I haven't..bit late now to become a bricky. Then you haven't been dealing with the construction industry here to any extent.
Our large companies in other industries are often involved too, both BAE and Rolls Royce aero engines have been caught out. Of course the fact is that if one wants to sell to a corrupt country it's unavoidable. When flogging fighter jets to an Arab nation, the only way to the man who can sign on the line is through "agents" who demand their slice. The man who can sign knows it but doesn't care, since it just brings more money into his country.

Didn't realise things were that bad... Its worse than Jamaica...Your corruption is structural. If you are born into the right family you go to the right school and get hired via the "old boys" network into lifetime employment, not on merit, but on family name/ties/old money.
When I arrived in London the tube still had ticket collectors at the exit. You soon learned that a ticket wasn't needed, just a pile of 10p coins. You slipped one into the hand of the ticket collector on the way out. In 8 months I only got caught by an honest person once and had to pay the full fare. I talked my way out of the fine...
Yes there's the old school tie type of corruption, but as you show with your tube example, it's at other levels too.Your corruption is structural. If you are born into the right family you go to the right school and get hired via the "old boys" network into lifetime employment, not on merit, but on family name/ties/old money.

I'm sure that achieving 8th Ranking is merely a sign that our Elite excel in covering theirr tracks, look how long it took for the offshore banking scam to get noticed, and action threatened by the EU, and their reaction?Agreed flecc but 8th in World ranking is better than 23rd...(According to Transparency International)
And like I, ve said before you can only say it as you find it. I, ve probably been fortunate in UK but not come across any type of corruption first hand. Not the case in other places I, ve had dealings with...but going over old ground. Blame kiwi.
Corruption is another name for human being. Human beings are generally a corrupt species who find the temptation of a dodgy deal irresistible. The urge to prosper due to the result of an underhand transaction is overwhelming for many. In your account above, you and the ticket collector are the same. Both unable to resist the temptation of swindling the ticketing system and its owners. Humanness in action. This is why I prefer animals to people, they have greater dignity.Your corruption is structural. DONALD Trump has declared he will know if he can strike a deal with North Korea’s Kim Jong-un “within the first minute” of their historic meeting.
The US president flew to Singapore last night to prepare for the showdown summit over the rogue state’s nuclear weapons on Tuesday."
What a liability for the USA and in fact the rest of the World that man is.
You are in favour of not bothering with trying to come to an agreement, just decide on the spur of the moment?iyho
