Tory MP forced to make grovelling apology to Jeremy Corbyn and 'substantial donation' to homeless charity over false spy claim
'I am very sorry for publishing this untrue and false statement,' Ben Bradley said
A Tory MP has been forced to issue a grovelling apology and to make a “substantial” donation to charity after making false claims about Jeremy Corbyn’s links with communist spies.

Ben Bradley said his comments were “wholly untrue and false” and agreed to pay out an undisclosed sum to a homeless charity and a food bank in his Mansfield constituency.

Now resign as an MP

An example of the fact that the so called "Free Press" is incorrigible.
"
Corbyn's war on the free press is proof he's unfit to be PM.

No it isn't it is proof that the Press are a bunch of liars, and never know when to stop till they are made to.

they were caught out ans should be abjectly apologising not keep up with the same old lies as if nothing had happened.
This article is written by Daniel Hannan, conservative MEP.
Last week, we had JC's lawyers going after Ben Bradley conservative MP.
this is mud slinging. The conservative party hopes some of it will stick.

Has he been reported to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards?

[ That is, of course, has Ben Bradley been ... ]

This is when his constituency party members should step in and deselect him by making it public that he no longer represents their views. They should demand honesty and decency from their MP but will they do that?

Sadly, from the vermin in ermine right down to the Sun/Mail/Express/Times/Telegraph, et al-reading scum who support such despicable liars, they are every bit as bad so little hope there.

Tory politics has nothing to do with democracy - it has become pure tribalism due to their hatred of the poor, the disabled and the disadvantaged, not to mention foreigners.

These two quotes came from the same speech in 1948 by Nye Bevan:

The eyes of the world are turning to Great Britain. We now have the moral leadership of the world and before many years we shall have people coming here as to a modern Mecca, learning from us in the twentieth century as they learned from us in the seventeenth century.

What is Toryism but organised spivvery? … No amount of cajolery can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party … So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin.

In the first, he displayed great percipience and in the second, his view of toryism then has been reinforced time and time again over the 70 years since he addressed the good people of Manchester.

The tory party is pure evil!

Even though one tory liar has been forced to recant due to the threat of legal action, the never-ending lies from the party continue.

Labour’s Shadow Minister for Policing, Louise Haigh MP, has written to the UK Statistics Authority to complain about misleading statements by the PM which claim her Government has put extra investment in policing.

Over recent weeks, the PM and other senior Tories have consistently made misleading claims that the funding settlement for 2018/19 provides extra investment from central Government, despite actually only committing to flat-cash protection.

In response, Louise Haigh MP, Shadow Policing Minister, said:

“Across the country, forces are facing a real-terms reduction in their funding. Local taxpayers are picking up the pieces for the Tories’ continued reckless cuts to policing, and senior police officers are warning that communities’ safety is at risk.

“Rather than be straight with people, Theresa May seems determined to pretend the council tax increases she is burdening on hard-pressed households are actually investment in policing by central Government.

“The truth is, whether it’s on rising crime or falling budgets, you simply cannot believe a word the Tories say on law and order.”

Everything that comes out of their mouths is a lie so how any sane person could imagine that 'Brexit' might somehow be as the tories have described is beyond my ken.

Did you have to post a picture of him? :-(

It would be good to see others who have demurred from criticising Bradley to the extent of appearing to wholly endorse the original tweet now also snivelling. And if they repeat their words, which were effectively the same allegation, to be put in the dock for contempt of court. (No idea if legal process would allow that but seems reasonable that, if you flagrantly ignore a court's ruling, it should be a possibility.)

I was shocked watching Liam Fox interviewed by Andrew Marr this morning about this.
Mr Fox tried to defend the indefensible tweet that Ben Bradley apologized for.
A weasel, I thought.

That seems to me to be a very reasonable proposition and it is high time the right to free speech was reviewed by the judiciary in order to clarify the difference between the right to speak one's mind and the public telling and distribution of deliberate lies.

You are right, of course, about the contempt issue in that a great many judges take grave exception to wilful disregard of their rulings. Indeed, there are some strange and quaint requirements in regard to the purging of contempt.

The calls for gun control in the USA grow stronger each day and more well-known celebrity figures are stepping forward to criticise Trump.

I am no fan of Stephen King's work but he doesn't seem to like the direction of Trump's Presidency:

One of my American friends described Trump's recent opinion on safeguarding schoolchildren in school like this:

The American people would do well to remember the words of Paul Robeson:

And so too would the people of the UK!

Now, Tony B-liar knows more than most about lying so maybe he is correct to describe the allegation against him by Michael Wolff as absurd.

Blair 'complete liar', says Fire and Fury author Wolff
The author of the controversial book about the Trump administration, Michael Wolff, has called Tony Blair an "complete liar" for denying he was trying to get a job with the White House.

In his book Fire and Fury, Mr Wolff claims he overheard a conversation between Mr Blair and the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner where he was "angling" for a post-election Middle East adviser role.

The former UK prime minister has denied the claims, calling them "absurd" and "simply untrue".

But appearing on BBC One's Andrew Marr Show, Mr Wolff defended his stance, saying the conversation had taken place 15ft away from him.

Careful now. There has been no court case so obviously no contempt of court. However anyone who repeats or endorses the same statement can equally expect a similar letter and since they have had prior notice and cabnit therefire claim ignorance the substantial donations and the time scales for paying them can be ramped up. Last month while being grilled by a committee of MPs, Brexit Secretary David Davis said anyone who went into a negotiation trumpeting their red lines was an "idiot".

Unfortunately for Mr Davis, that is precisely what his boss Theresa May has done.
https://news.sky.com/story/the-real-reason-for-labour-and-jeremy-corbyns-brexit-shift-on-a-customs-union-11267534

the hard brexiters are behind TM's red lines.
Their tactic is simple: obfuscate the process, wind up the EU negotiators so nothing will be achieved until March next year when we'll exit without a deal.

I think they'll fail though, I'm sure if it got near to that stage TM would concede enough to get a transition period.

Then we'll have to see if that's enough to split the Tory government apart.

Liam Fox claims Jeremy Corbyn was 'very useful to the Soviet Union', despite Tory MP's apology over spy claims
Tory MP Ben Bradley was forced to issue a grovelling apology over false spy claims about the Labour leader

And this from a man who had to resign as one reader put it

Didnt Fox have to resign because with Werrity there was security risk. Priceless.
From the Guardian
Liam Fox resigns following Adam Werritty revelations Liam Fox resigned as it emerged that the Defence Secretary had personally asked a City financier to bankroll his unofficial adviser

Any normal person would keep his mouth shut on matters like these, but not this clown.
