Yep agree about the fork, but at least it's an Air fork so I'd expect it to be better than the cheap pogo stick Suntour forks.

Brakes are 4 pots, and hubs are cartridge bearing. SX eagle is similar to Deore, so replacements arent pricey.
Rest of the kit is more than adequate.

I'd set that up with slicks and a rack for a more than capable go-anywhere townie.

I was looking at their moped-styled EAPCs and, as its name suggests the lesser-known SX-800 'motorbike', offering a credible 800w/29mph, which if you have a motorbike licence just about makes the tax and insurance worthwhile, but these seem to be marketed totally independently. I'm not sure if I'd want to throw even £599 at these, both with SIS gears and steel frame, and particularly single skin rims! The Netuno Pro looks a better prospect at twice the price (at the time of writing), but then so it should be.

Those cheap gears are extremely reliable. I've had them on many bikes. They run for years without adjustment, and I've never seen the gears wear out. You don't need fancy gears on a bike when you have a motor to help you out.

Next, despite what it says in the listing, the rims don't look like single skinned ones to me. There the same as you get on any of these types of bikes and the same as what I've been using for tens of thousands of miles without problems.

Finally, the frame is steel. I don't really see that as a problem. On the downside, it's a little heavy, though the overall weight is only 23.5kg, which is similar to many cheap and medium priced ebikes. On the upside, it'll be strong enough not to get ruined when the owner forgets to tighten the wheel nuts enough.

In summary, it's not the sort of bike anyone would want to use for competing in downhill events, but I think it would work extremely well for commuting, shopping and generally getting around, and if anything ever did go wrong, all the parts are cheap to replace, easy to get and easy and cheap to upgrade. I'm thinking why anyone would want to pay twice the price, when that one will do the job perfectly. The only reason to pay more would be for dealer support if you don't know and aren't willing to learn anything about simple bike mechanics.

The one thing I would change is the brakes. I would always want hydraulic disc brakes on any ebike, mainly to make them maintenance free, but also for their consistency and modulation. Cable disc brakes need too much adjustment to keep them working right. The £40 for the upgrade will not only improve your riding experience, but might even save your life

Ha! My only grievance against the gears is the one time I let my wife borrow my bike and the gears threw the chain off past the largest cog into the spokes, so the wheels got an upgrade at the same time as the the gears! I've never been a bike snob, but they were definitely single wall rims. My steel-framed cargo bike weighs a ton and could really do with an electric conversion which is one reason why I'm on here, but it won't be getting one till I get the brakes sorted first, which the mounts are already there for. Far more important to be able to stop a bike, as a mate of mine recently found out.

Or about the weight of a high end full suss Emtb. So you would think a really basic bike would be considerably less. My basic urban ebike is 12lbs lighter than that.
