    All this knowledge.

My son, who is 5, fixed a puncture (with a patch, not just a tube) all on his own on Saturday. All I did was check the nuts were tight and the brakes worked after he'd finished. He regulary helps me with maintainence on my cars and especially the Westfield. He can tell me where the oil and...

Is your pedelec legal? From CTC's cycle magazine

Just remember - if you do get it road legal it's just that - ROAD - don't take it on a cycle route or bridleway. Get a proper helmet. I bet insurance will be fun and I'd lover to see the look on the MOT testers face when it rolls in :-) "Hello, I'd like to insure a Kalkhoff Agatu Sport" "A...

    All this knowledge.

No money in it. Once money starts changing hands for services rendered then you start getting intto public liability insurance, vat registration etc. I earn 3x as a Software Engineer than I did as a cytech l2 mechaninc.

    Please ask D8veh Back

d8veh, scottyf, cwah and I all seem to have been spending more and more time on endless sphere of late - it's a far less judgmental place than here. I'm not suprised d8veh has departed. There's loads of stuff I've posted on endless sphere that I wouldn't dream of posting here.

    12v LED voltage tolerance?

All LEDS are 3.3v or thereabouts. What determines input voltage is the "driver". i.e some drivers have boost - i.e. they can run an LED by "boosting" a 1.5v (AA battery) source for example. Others have a buck driver - i.e. they take a 6v input and "buck" it down. Some clever drivers are...

    Kit fitting problem

If the motor can accept a disk then it needs dishing over to the side that the disk mounts to.

    My new build

Yeah - checked it's all bolted up tight and it's good. Having worked with all kinds of motors I know it's not unusual for a vibration to appear then dissapear to never return, so I'm going to keep riding it and if it dies, onto the next. I'd still love to try a Cute 100 motor but don't know...

    My new build

I might be joining you sooner than I thought Scotty - the Tongxin has stared making an odd vibration as it passes between 15mph and 17mph. I also noticed my amp draw has gone up bit and the motor was really warm when I got home on Monday - 47c according to the temp probe. I know it's been very...

    My new build

Scotty - an important setting on the Lyen is to set the block time to 0.1s if you actually want the amp limit to be true. If you set it for say 1s then for that one second it will pull as many amps as it can and when the 1s expires then it imposes the amp limit. Rule of thumb is phase amps =...

    My new build

Hmm - sorely tempted to get a front wheel off Kudos just to compare it to the Tongxin.

    Bike fell down..

If the chain is on the cogs but it doesn't move the rear wheel when peddaled then the freewheel is bust.

Are the EU making a big mistake in limiting e-bikes to 25 Kg?

Aren't removable batteries excluded from the weight limit? I.e. what's to stop you having a small 36v10ah battery fixed on the bike and another in a pannier bag or in your rucksack? It'd be no different than carrying a 3kg laptop in a pannier bag for example.
