    Olympics Closing Ceremony........

That's a shame as it ended with about 8 rock songs! Queen, , Brian May, The Who etc not to mention Eric Idle and "always look on the bright side of life" - very entertaining.

New project - Ezee kit on Giant Seek 0

Take the spring out of the throttle :-) That's what I've done with my thumb throttle - it then stays wherever you set it (which is usually at max!) :-)

    First ride after 4 months..

Rain? I've still managed to commute 4 days out of 5 most weeks with only getting caught in a couple of showers.

    Cycling under the rain

If they deem the bike unsafe to ride they can issue you a prohibition notice - just like they could if you rode at night without lights or without brakes etc. Don't do it - one moderate gust of wind from the left and you'll be pushed from the kerb into the middle of the road or under a bus.

    Tongxin Motor Supply

You could of course just order the motor on it's own and use it with a programmable custom controller like the lyen mni monster to keep the amps down (also gives you a 24v-63v battery range) then you have the option of a throttle.

8fun kit (Bottle battery): Initial conditioning Question...

Have you measured the voltage when you've run it that low? You could have a duff lvc circuit on your BMS.

    Bradley Wiggins Sparks Helmet Debate

Ah, but is there a law saying you MUST have a reserve chute?* That's the point we're trying to make. *For the record no there isn't - there are many parachutists that don't have reserve chutes - many in the special forces and base jumpers for example. They, like many who choose not to wear...

Can't start my bike - looks like a Cyclamatic GTE Step-Through

Have you checked the voltage of the battery?

    Bradley Wiggins Sparks Helmet Debate

Thanks Bradley  Personally, I don't wear a helmet on my commute - but on 7 miles out of 9 mile are on the road. not that a helmet would do any good if I got hit by a car anyhow (IMO). I do wear a helmet when I go off road - simply because I fall off a alot at speeds where a helmet...

EZee up the Whitby Abbey Cobbles.

Very soon I'll be converting my full suspension mtb with a rear hub - I had been considering the MAC kit from cellman (Mac 500W Rear Kit (torque)) or the ezee kit - having read all the great reports on the ezee kit I'm leaning towards one of them. It's a fair chunk more expensive than the MAC...

    Is it legal?

Actually, I meant the opposite. If you were in the middle of nowhere with no people around sound wouldn't matter. Illegal ebikes only really become an issue when they become obvious or a nuisance (which sound certainly counts as). As a copper or a do gooder - what would attract your...

Cyclezee Bottle Battery Kit on Trek 6000

Question re the bottle battery - does it mount just using the two threaded water cage bosses in the frame? The reason I ask is that normally these bosses are just pressed in and even just the weight of a big full water bottle can pull them out.

    Is it legal?

It may not be legal, but really, who's going to care if you're not going more than 15mph? Just don't run anyone over :-) The cyclone kits aren't exactly unobtrusive though - you can hear one coming from miles away - worth thinking about.

Assisted mode / gear shift conflict

It's odd about not being able to pedal over the assist limit. Do both wheels turn freely? What are your tyre pressures?

    Tongxin hub motor wheel build

My Tongxin is laced into a 700cc rim with 14g/16g db spokes (2nn/1.6mm) in a 3 cross pattern and it's fine - 3k miles and not seen a spoke wrench since the build. But remember, a wheel is only as strong as the wheel builder is skillful :-)

    Tongxin hub motor wheel build

    It'll be fine with 2mm spokes :-)

    Trek Valencia+ on ebay

No no - my Trek FX is custom built (Tongxin front hub, Lyen controller, thumb throttle etc, etc). http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/9442-new-build.html

    Trek Valencia+ on ebay

It's 8spd internal (Alfine?). And I really want a belt drive - the sand on my commute is horrendous. I'll be returning the FX back to stock for leisurely unpowered rides - the Soho will be my commuter workhorse - taken to work in all kinds of weather (and grime!).
