First ride after 4 months..

Featured Replies

Hey all, what a great day it's turned out weather wise! Hope everyone is enjoying it and using their bikes...the weather has been weird lately with all this heavy rain eh.

I've just got back from my first ride today in over 4 months!! So strange riding after all this time.. was like the first time, I couldn't stop grinning and waving at everyone :D I've not been using my bike due to a bad knee but today was a good day so I decided what the hell! I wasn't sure the battery would be ok so packed a pair of latex gloves just in case I had to drop the chain and pedal, but it was absolutely fine as I've been keeping it charged up.

This might be my last ride on a full size 26" bike..for a few years at least :( I'm trying to get my head around riding a 20" bike, that's gonna be strange indeed! I'm getting close to ordering one so I will have a ride on it before I convert it and shoot some video to post ;-)

bummer! glad you got it sorted and it hasn't off-roaded you :) My matharans have so far saved me from glass and thorns, but I have eyes like a hawk and always looking out for nails and screws, I've seen a few on my travels :)

Rain?

I've still managed to commute 4 days out of 5 most weeks with only getting caught in a couple of showers.

Woah that's lucky. Saying that, in the year or so I've had my bike, I've only ever been caught in rain maybe 3 times and only once in a heavy down pour.. I did wonder if my kit would blow up or simply cut out, but as it turned out, it was fine! The little handlebar bag did a good job at keeping everything dry, I did put a plastic bag inside over the wires though just in case.

The other day the rain was just insane.. I went to the post box to post some things and I got absolutely drenched..the rain was like a mini river down the road so bad it went into my shoes and even my trousers nearly fell off from the weight off the rain lol..

With our summers it's no good being put off by rain!

I commute to work 5 days a week doing about 130 miles and just keep thinking about the petrol money I am saving.

When it rains which it frequently has this year I treat it as a challenge and feel a bit heroic as I keep pedaling on! :-)

The only time I drive to work is if my Bearprint has technical problems which from time to time it does.

I suppose it will as I am pushing towards 10000 miles since buying it in October 2010.

Overall rain or shine I really enjoy my commute to work and then home afterwards.

Barry.
