What can I say.....absolutely totally impressive, so many amazing people.....amazing acts, wonderful memories....way too many to mention, but.....Queen.....WOW.....

I am so proud tonight to be British.....we're not bad are we eh ?.....and we need to remember that and try to carry on this wonderful uplifting spirit Olympics 2012 has brought here.

The sight of Gary Barlow singing that wonderful song with Take That after suffering such a devastating tragedy losing his still born daughter, was the last straw on an emotional night and Im afraid I have spent the rest of the night in tears.......

Happy, emotional, inspiring.........Im so sad its over but so happy and privileged to have seen it all.

Truly a once in a lifetime experience.

OMG.....WHAT A NIGHT !!!!!!!! .......and what an amazing 16 days !!!!!

Lynda :)

It's certainly been a fantastic couple of weeks which has undoubtedly done a lot of good for Britain and it's image abroad, and we still have the Paralympics to come! They'll find this a hard act to follow.

The closing ceremony wasn't for me since I'm not a pop music fan. For that reason I recorded it to watch about an hour in arrears so I could skip where necessary, but I eventually gave up after a while and deleted it. That's a matter of personal taste of course, not a criticism and I've no doubt it was good for the majority who do like pop.

That's a shame as it ended with about 8 rock songs!

Queen, , Brian May, The Who etc not to mention Eric Idle and "always look on the bright side of life" - very entertaining.

I knew it would be good,we have such a reservoir of good music and talent but it was all collated together so well. Brilliant, loved every minute of the closing ceremony. Us Brits are quite a talented lot when we apply ourselves, lets hope the rest of the world respect what we can achieve.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole event from the opening ceremony until the flame went out last night. Everyone that I have spoken too who has been to the Olympics have been overwhelmed by a sense of pride in our athletes and the volunteers who seemed to be everywhere offering friendly assistance. I didn't think that I would enjoy it as much as I have done and it has also provided a nice respite from the gloom of the economy and the shenanigans of Parliament and the financial sector.

However, I have a sort of uneasy feeling now that it is all over. A bit like having treated a large group of friends and acquaintances to an impressive meal at a top restaurant, but paid on a credit card for which I have no means to settle the balance at the end of the month. I read somewhere recently that there are now three types of people, The haves, The have nots and the Haves but have not the means to pay. I think that we have been taken into the latter category whether we like it or not and I don't like it, I have always avoided that sort of lifestyle.
