    Motor and over-volting question

Only concern is sensorless or halls. A halled motor will work with sensorless controller but a hall only controller will not work with a sensorless motor. Other than that (excusing brushed/non-brushed) the yes - you can use most controller with most motors. If you add a higher voltage to a...

    Recommendation for a fussy commuter?

£200 on my £700 Trek (including final "rental" fee). Also effectively an interest free loan over 12 months with no credit check :-) Still worth looking into imho.

    Taking a Tongxin motor apart.

Yup, quite easy to induce slip at anything above 500watts and/or harsh throttle usage from a standstill. It is lovely and quite though and very freewheeling off the power. Just sold mine in a wheel complete with 3000k miles on it and still working perfectly - only sold as I'm now using one...

Wisper ties up distributor deal for Grace bikes e-bikes in the UK

I though the helmet wasn't actually a requirement? And 95% of designated cycle paths are open to S-class machines as well now.

Wisper ties up distributor deal for Grace bikes e-bikes in the UK

Ditto - I now have a Trek Soho Deluxe and after using it for a few weeks commute I wouldn't go back to a chain drive - esp on an electrically assited bike.

Tongxin motorlaced in 700c Mavic rim

Well I've deffinately pushed it further than most but I have respected it (very gentle on throttle, no kerb jumps etc) and it's still in good working order. I'm now running with one of the smaller Goldant motors so this wheel is suplass to requirements.

They are reasonable quality, just not on the throttle circuit side as the motors were always designed for pedelec.

Wisper ties up distributor deal for Grace bikes e-bikes in the UK

I think the only instance where an illegal ebike will draw attention (as long as it doesn't look like a motorbike) is when one is involved in an accident. I think that scenario applies to the example Flecc is talking about. So - if you ride an illegal ebike - don't crash! And if you do crash...

I think you'll find it's called risk management actually. But again - you've just resorted to a ad homien fallacy. I'd have you on ignore except I find your posts midly amusing. So there you go - ad homien countered with ad homien :-)

    Tongxin Goldant 700c build

Jerry - the reason why I recommended a programmable controller is that very often what you set the controller to isn't what actually gets sent to the motor. What would happen if you got the controller from e-crazyman, he set it to 12 amps but when you connect it up it actually puts out 17amps...

+1. On the original bike - I'm glad there is a CHOICE in the market. Sounds like we've a few to many closet socialist authoritarians on here who - and that's coming from a staunch trade unionist!

I was born in London actually and moved from that craphole as soon as I was able. Also, I don't live in Blackpool, I just ride through it on the way to work. But well done for resorting to personal insults again. Bravo sir, bravo! Eddieo, Indalo and Tilson - I suggest you start resorting to...
