Broken drop-outs - lesson to all, fit a torque arm.

The link arm on one has the "slotted" end is fastened to the eye on the fork and on the other the "slotted" end connects to the torque plate. I removed the zip ties, pulled of the nut cover and pulled the cable up when I took the photo so you could see the torque plate fitted more clearly :-)

Broken drop-outs - lesson to all, fit a torque arm.

More torque arm pics - I did have to file the "slots" a little to get the arms to reach the mud guard fittings. C washers from ebikes .ca fitted and even then i has to file a couple of mm off the "lawyer" lips. An yes, I'm aware the link arms are installed differently on each side -...

Is this the bike for you?

Doctorbass' 2003 GIANT DH Comp Now THAT looks fun! I'm in the process of converting my full sus using a mid mounted motor to drive through the cranks - I hope that's fun as well!

Is this the bike for you?

One thing I've been thinking about is if this bike can't handle 45mph how come it's already lasted 6 months use? Also, as most bikes list 110kg as max rider weight, what's more stressful on a bike - a rider weighing 110kg with no battery or a 100kg rider plus a 10 kg battery? No difference...

Is this the bike for you?

Oh I agree with you - that bike isn't one I'd want to go 40mph on. But that wasn't the point Indalo was trying to make with his original post :-) Oh, and my Westfield is quicker than my Cosworth by some margin. But nothing beats motorbike at a red light grand prix. I'd whip your ass on a lap...

For sale - one front Bafang SWXB sensorless motor laced into a 700c rim - 175rpm so 15.5mph legal @36v or 20mph @ 48v. Nice strong motor. Ordered a few weeks ago from Kudos (same as fitted to the Duke) so only 200miles on it so far. Fitted with bullet connectors but I will include the three...

Is this the bike for you?

I'd certainly use it @ 40mph (well ok not that one ebcause as you've pointed out I'd want a better bike if I was doing that speed - some kind of beefed up full on DH racer than can take that kind of abuse) but I wouldn't do so weaving between the pedestrians on Blackpool prom on a Bank Holiday...

Is this the bike for you?

You don't have to ride it at @ 40mph you know. Just like I don't have to drive my Cosworth at 150mph :-) But there are times when I've had it @ 140mph in a safe and controlled manner ;)

Will do, thanks :-) Best make sure I don't crash then!

Is this the bike for you?

It's not even the same  Oh and by the way, I have a knife just like that that's always strapped to my belt when I go camping and I don't have any bother. There is one way the two scenarios are linked though. Act like a dick and make a scene and you'll have problems. Act...

    Twin motor, 2 wheel drive

Duly noted! Cheers. I might get a bulk lot made up and flog them on ebay ;) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TROPHY-ENGRAVING-PLATES-NAME-PLAQUES-ENGRAVED-FREE-/180857936280?pt=UK_SportingGoods_OtherSports&var=&hash=item2a1bf91998#ht_4187wt_1043

    Twin motor, 2 wheel drive

My bike's got a 250w 36v plate attached, with a "limited to 15.5mph" line for good measure :-)

Is this the bike for you?

No, it's too slow :p I don't think they really care as long as no one crashes them  Don't hold back Indalo - never be afraid to say what you're really thinking - common decency and courtesy be damned!

    Cycling under the rain

Cwah - I think you're missing the point everyone is trying to make. No one is disputing that the umbrella is tough and windproof - indestructable even. What we're concerned about the effect of one strapped to a bikes handlebars!

    Motor and over-volting question

IF it doesn't work just get another controller of ebay for £20 - they aren't expensive or hard to get hold of.

    Motor and over-volting question

That's a good point. You'd also lose lvc protection if you use a high voltage battery as well. The obvious solution if to spend a little more and get a programmable controller.
