    Bafang right motor?

Yeah - even the 48v750w won't be able to do 40mph. I do wonder why you want to go that fast though? That's World Cup DH rider speeds. If you're riding on trails shared with other bikes and walkers, then you really want to keep your speed down anyway. I had a bike that would top 40mph but I...

    Attitude towards E-bikes

Actually - I think that comment right there is what is wrong about the perception of ebiking in this country. Why should ebikes be the preserve of the infirm and elderly? Why can't you be healthy and ride an ebike for fun? I could thrash most of those commenting up any hill they choose. I'm...

Legal ebike that can climb steep hills fast!

The 250w wont (the only legal one), even the 500w wont. The 750w might.

    Exiting New Things

A normal motor that can do 15mph with 500w will just create heat when it meets a 10% hill and it'll stall out. This motor can change down a gear to go up the hill and will run efficiently instead of creating heat but still only use 500w - the speed will drop to 8mph or so though. Then when it...

    Bike storage

Having 8 bikes + trailer in the garage was doing my tree in (my DH bike, my xc bike, my ebike, my road bike, wifes xc bike, kids 20" bike, kids 16" bike, balance bike and bike trailer) so decided to get some extra storage and claim some space back. If anyone is looking for some extra bike...

    This battery looks interesting!

I've just bought the bare case for my build. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/new-bottle-battery-case-electric-bike-battery-case-ebike-battery-case-ebike-battery-carry/1600570969.html If you're buying it from an unknown chinese vendor then it could have any cell in it - 10.4ah might even be an...

    What do we think?

Chain and sprockets are good up to about 2000watts - just don't shift under power. On my BBS kit I've fashioned a micro switch and spliced it into the ebrake line to cut power when shifting. Don't know about that - my 500w BBS-02 tops out at 30mph with a 46t front chainring and 11t rear...

    What do we think?

Ah, I missed it being a 48v750w bike - in that case it does seem a good deal. It'd be dead easy to whip a crank off and rotate the motor to where it should be.

    What do we think?

It's ok if you don't want to do the work yourself. I don't know why they haven't rotated the motor right up to the down tube though - there's plenty of room for it :-/ You could do it cheaper by buying a similar spec bike and the 8fun BBS kit + battery seperately. The BBS kits are very easy...

    30mph bike options?

Going over the handlebars would imply the brakes are adequate ;-) I could go out tomorrow and by a non-road legal racing Westfield - it'd hardly be the sellers fault if I got nicked driving it back home would it?

    Best tyres for commuting

I was late to the party with the Schwalbe Big Apple tyres but popped a pair on last September and haven't looked back since. Superb on road, good on graveled paths and didn't even dump me on a muddy route down by the river last week - they do slide about but as they're so wide they give you...

considering an ebike but have concerns about frame size and weight

There's not much you can do about the weight - a motor and a battery will always add a certain amount to a bike - typically around 13lbs but can be as litle as 8lbs.

    30mph bike options?

The first one is just an 8fun BBS kit - that you can get for around £260 delivered from various chinese vendors (greenbike kit, bms battery, people on aliexpress etc) and throw in a ping battery you're looking at £500 for the kit. The question you've got to ask yourself is the rest of the bike...

    Haibike Head Unit

It's fine re. water ingress as it's totally sealed inside the port. The copper/brass pins will be fine with some water. If it's used near salty water then a quick squirt of wd40 will suffice.
