New VAT rules for overseas sellers supplying goods to UK customers - Any experiences yet?

In the UK that kit is £390 on Amazon but for some reason, their page now only shows 20" wheels (then if you choose "No Battery" there's 26" wheels listed). When I was looking, it was £408 (according to the Excel spreadsheet I was filling in when comparing, which can't possibly be wrong lol, I...

Kit turned up, the axle nuts (12x10 axle) are 18mm (17.8mm to be exact).

They put the full value on it. €297.72 aka £252.54 (at todays exchange rate, which might be slightly different since it's 10 from days after ordering). The £9.50 customs charge is peanuts compared to what I was expecting. I paid about that on a £40 item a few years back. Shrug. This £9.50...

New VAT rules for overseas sellers supplying goods to UK customers - Any experiences yet?

Got my customs charge letter today for Bafang hub kit, it's basically everything except a battery, the kit was about £270 inc shipping from China. The charges were £21.50 altogether, not taking VAT into account. £9.50 of that was the customs charge and the other £12 was the handling fee. It's...

New VAT rules for overseas sellers supplying goods to UK customers - Any experiences yet?

It's a bummer that my kit is being sent from Germany even though I ordered it on AliExpress. Still, it apparently has arrived here, but is waiting at some depot while they ship me out a letter telling me what the customs charges are going to be. That courier sending from Germany to UK was DHL...

New VAT rules for overseas sellers supplying goods to UK customers - Any experiences yet?

Cheers PC2017 I did think it was 2.5%. On AliExpress, the store selling the battery did include VAT at checkout and the store selling the motor kit didn't. It's all over the place at the moment. I've not ordered much this year, but last time I paid VAT at checkout on there for something that...

New VAT rules for overseas sellers supplying goods to UK customers - Any experiences yet?

I bought a used rear mech from the US around 2018 (a 7700 GS that was from 2002 so about 15 years old) and I paid about £40 for it, yet the customs charge was something like £12 (then the £8 handling fee I'm not including, it was £20 in reality). That £12 customs fee alone was 30% of the £40 it...

New VAT rules for overseas sellers supplying goods to UK customers - Any experiences yet?

The China seller has warehouses in the EU and I think my kit has been sent from Germany. The tracking says DHL_DE. Of all places, sigh. "The shipment has been processed in the delivery depot" so it is here in the UK but, awaiting customs charges.

OK cheers, I just wondered if it's going to be some insane fee where a kit and battery that originally cost about £500 is going to cost about £800 or £900.

New VAT rules for overseas sellers supplying goods to UK customers - Any experiences yet?

Has anyone bought a Bafang motor kit (mid or hub) from China and had to pay extra on top of the China price? I bought a Bafang rear hub kit that is going to have the wheel, controller and a few other bits like cables, I paid about £270 on the Chinese website and I know (from the tracking) at...

    PAS Quite Loose

Cheers StuartsProjects. I modified the 12 magnet disc by cutting away the areas where the bolts are, so the disc now sits flat on the 4 chainring bolts. Miles better now :)

    PAS Quite Loose

Oh right that's on the chainring itself, not the crank arm, my bad. My chainring has got those, but there's not much spare metal there. Drilling holes there so close to the chainring bolt holes, I dunno about doing that, it might make it weaker where it's bolted, especially being such a small...

    PAS Quite Loose

Now I have seen that fits into a 22t I might try to work out a way to use it. On your first pic it looks like there's extra metal tabs where the 4 bolts go into the crank arm? On mine there's no metal after those 4 holes on the crank arm, it's like this: Another thing is, my 22t chainring...

    PAS Quite Loose

If that's an Octalink 2 crank, the BB cup diameter is about 38mm. Mine is a Hollowtech 2 with a diameter of 45mm. That extra 3.5mm of clearance you have all around, means you can have the cable tie heads on the inside like you've done. The 12 magnet disc gives about 1mm more clearance all...

Are the wires swapped on some throttles?

The thing is I want a left half-twist and left ones are less common. I've not even got the controller in my hands yet so I'm worrying without knowing lol vfr400 this is what I started to think about doing. If both ends have a Julet connector, is it possible the wiring can still be swapped...

    PAS Quite Loose

Cheers vfr400 you help out so much. I think all I might glue is the cable ties so they are flat to the chainring, hopefully that's all that's needed. Even I can't put this on the wrong way, it's got clips on the reverse side lol

    PAS Quite Loose

I think I might have got it to work. The biggest problem now, would be the cable ties being raised 2mm. The sensor would have to be 3mm or 4mm away to clear them. The chain doesn't touch the cable tie and the BB cup just about fits there without touching the cable ties. The blocky clip part...

Are the wires swapped on some throttles?

OK cheers. So Julet and Higo look the same (apart from the name on it), they are the same colour, they plug together - but the wiring is different so I can fry the controller if I do plug it together? I guess I need to message the seller and ask about getting the right one, if they exist at all.

Are the wires swapped on some throttles?

I bought a half-twist throttle for use with a hub motor kit that has a YCSV126-001-48T controller, but I am gradually finding that these half-twist throttle are only for use with BBSXX mid-drive kits? Is it hit and miss whether it will work with a hub motor controller? More likely it won't...

    PAS Quite Loose

This is a 24t Shimano inner chainring, the only size chainring this BZ-10C magnet disc fits to and while it does clip in place, it's quite loose.. The clips holding it on are at about 9 and 3 O Clock: Clipping it against the notch (that's near 6 O Clock) on the chainring, just bends the...
