Charging to X% - What about rigging up a voltmeter with alarm?

    That's the best solution I've seen yet. If there's a problem :p

Charging to X% - What about rigging up a voltmeter with alarm?

I guess. There's days I have my ecig plugged into the USB on my PC charging but I'm vaping on it all day at the same time it's charging. AW IMR (18650) Claimed mAh when new: 2200 mAh now: 1343 mAh loss: 39% Days used: 1409 Cycles: Approx. 450 Sony VTC6 Red Murata (18650) Claimed mAh when new...

Charging to X% - What about rigging up a voltmeter with alarm?

OK cheers. I thought the BMS balanced the cells regardless of the amount it's charged. This is why I thought I could stop charging it at 80% or 90% and it would end up balanced, regardless of whether a charger is plugged in or not.

Charging to X% - What about rigging up a voltmeter with alarm?

In an ideal world we'd all buy that Satiator charger, but it's expensive. I had an idea... why can't you just have a voltmeter with an LED readout of the voltage, that has an alarm you can set to go off when a certain voltage is reached, that has an XT60 plug (or any you want) on it? Do these...

Samsung - are we just paying for the name?

It's too late now, I took the chance and ordered a LiitoKala 48V/25Ah shrink wrapped pack. :p Going off reviews, it's going to be more like 21Ah in reality. It was about £216 with shipping and VAT included in that. That's £10.29 per Ah compared to £19.40 per Ah for the UK (eBay) pack. It's not...

    Controllers and batteries XT60 connectors...

Yep, it does show them in reverse compared to what that same seller themselves sell, which is a bit odd. I very nearly bought a male battery based on that image. I also got confused for a time looking at XT60 connectors with the male plugs = female pins / female plugs = male pins and worked out...

    Controllers and batteries XT60 connectors...

Cheers vfr400. It's too late now anyway, ordered a female battery lol EDIT: They got back to me within 12 hours and confirmed the controller is male going to a battery female. Once again I can be at peace with the world lol

    Controllers and batteries XT60 connectors...

Is there any industry standard for whether the XT60 plugs on controllers and batteries are male on one and female on another? From what I can tell they are usually male on the controller and female on the battery, right? I saw a photo of a Greenergy kit showing the controller box having a...

    DIY Battery Calc

If the Dropbox link won't work, here's the calc on Sendspace: https://www.sendspace.com/file/zo41gr

    DIY Battery Calc

Cheers vfr400. First post updated with latest calc. Added Wh to it and ability to add BMS and case weight (for wires and nickel just add to those weights). It's already got out of hand and was meant to be simple lol

    DIY Battery Calc

Updated the calc... added cost per cell and weight per cell to calculate totals for both. It's setup based on Samsung 21700 (50E) cells. Let me know if anything's wrong with it and I'll remove the link. ;) It could have BMS, nickel strips and case weight added, but then it's becoming a bit...

    DIY Battery Calc

Cheers Woosh & Nealh. Calc fixed :) https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/q38ff6mhckma5c2yz330y/DIY-eBike-Battery-Calc.xlsx?dl=1 Woosh, do you not sell battery packs on their own? I am thinking about something like a shrink wrapped 21700 based pack @ 48V/25Ah. I know someone on eBay sells exactly...

    DIY Battery Calc

I made a simple DIY battery calc in Excel to work out voltage, Ah, the amount of cells needed, cost, weight etc. Thanks to Woosh for correcting it. Link to calc: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/5cb6wq8op52ik561zhy6k/DIY-eBike-Battery-Calc.xlsx?dl=1 Screenshot:

Samsung - are we just paying for the name?

The store itself sells them at £3.04 per battery... https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32845153871.html If you buy ten they go down to £2.30 each. What the hell man, that's ludicrous... thus I am ludicrously wary about them. The 1-star reviews fluctuate between people saying the capacity is...

Samsung - are we just paying for the name?

They should probably be even more than that since they are 21700 supposedly with 5000 mAh each. The store selling them says the cells are: LiitoKala 21700 5000mAh 3C(Lii-50E) That's 65 cells. Even if they are £5 each that's £325. I think I'll probably end up just getting the Junstar one lol...

Samsung - are we just paying for the name?

Hailong Samsung 18650 battery packs: The first battery packs I looked at were Hailong, in a hard case (meant to fit to the bottle cage mounts on a down tube) that use Samsung 18650 batteries. These packs are expensive - presumably because they have Samsung cells? A 48V 17.5Ah battery from...

File these silly angles off my dropout? How risky is it lol

I finally got it fitted :) There's no hub motor in sight yet, but this is at least proof of concept for now, without having to file those ridges I mentioned. In reality the axle slot in the torque arm lined up and it rests flat, without interfering with the ridges. I did have to slightly file...

File these silly angles off my dropout? How risky is it lol

Thanks vfr400 but I have already tried that - the end of the slot in the long piece won't reach the hole on the short piece, if the short piece is flipped vertically. You can probably see where the hole in the short piece will end up if I do that - about 3cm lower - while the longer piece has...

File these silly angles off my dropout? How risky is it lol

Part of my bike frame near the dropout has these angled ridges that will overlap part of the torque arm that goes on the axle. What risk is there in filing those ends of the ridges flat so the torque arm plate sits flat? On this image, I have taken away the 2 parts of the torque arm plate so...
