    Schwalbe Marathon Plus

I'll be switching to Schwalbe Winters (700x38) on the Orbit and Schwalbe Ice Spikers (27.5 x 50) on the Oxygen soon. Those are both obviously designed for the cold, so will be grippier.

    Schwalbe Marathon Plus

I nearly had an off today on M+ tyres. I'd pumped them up to 70psi and the rear gave way on a corner when I encountered a van that I had to swerve for. Perfectly good tarmac, if somewhat damp, no leaves and 12C. Fortunately I was able to stay upright, but it was close. That has shaken my faith...

    Blackburn 650 Central Front Light

Nice thought, thanks, but the bars are quite curved and there isn't any space to fit a bar extender.

    Blackburn 650 Central Front Light

I do use dark cyclepaths and country lanes & it really does light up the way. I would also use it on towpaths, but my speed is much slower there. It wouldn't be bright enough for serious off-road shenanigans at speed. For one thing, the mount wouldn't like being bounced about.

    Blackburn 650 Central Front Light

In light, no pun intended, of a couple of weeks experience; here's an update: The mount is an issue on my curved bars. Depsite the grooved rubber lining it moves significantly. That means I am constantly realigning it as I ride along. This happens on both sets of bars I use it on; one curved...

A random thread for things too unimportant for their own thread...

I'll see if this kicks off a thread for minor things that might interest people... My post is about today's ride in to work. 1) It was bloomin' cold! I was a bit worried that the paths might be frosty, but no. 2) My rear derailleur gear cable snapped, meaning I jumped into top gear! Luckily...

Better stop lurking and get building!

My ride on Monday was in 2C as I left Warwick, but by the time I'd climbed to Kenilworth it was frosty and rather nippy! Still, I had decent gear on and the roads weren't slippy, and it was vastly better than sitting in my tin box.

Better stop lurking and get building!

I have a 8-11-mile commute, depending on the daylight, weather & my mood. I can do the undulating 8-mile run in a fraction under half an hour on my tweaked Oxygen & even on my converted Orbit, so it can be done.

    Panda Pro/Orbit Orion Conversion

I'm getting 2 return trips to work at an average speed of 16MPH over c.40 miles on full assistance. There is still about 25% charge left, maybe more. I get just one out of the Oxygen, albeit at a much faster pace. The key is the batteries. The Oxygen's 13AH one is 2 years old, the Orbit's is...

    advice on connectors please

Mine are working fine with no apparent heat damage. The joy of them from my perspective is that they don't short out if water gets in. With the state of my battery set up, that is not unforeseeable...

    Schwalbe Marathon Plus

I switched from my RWD Oxygen MTB with Schwalbe Land Cruiser tyres to my FWD Orbit with 700 x 35 Marathon Plus tyres today. I experienced wheel slip for the first time ever on a section where I had to negotiate some barriers going uphill. It was a bit disconcerting, especially as there was a ped...

    advice on connectors please

There's a thread here about connecting the battery: http://pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/waterproof-connector.28820/#post-393254 The Tamiya connectors have proved much more reliable than the standard battery connectors Oxygen used. They are fiddly to disconnect, but that's more down to the...

    Panda Pro/Orbit Orion Conversion

Success! I have now have the bike back working and it is sitting in the garage charging, ready to be taken on a test ride tomorrow. I have to admit that I gave up in the end and got the LBS to do the fiddly Alfine hub bit. They also put a star nut in-situ, as my confidence in the expander bolt...

Specialized Globe Pro eZee Conversion for sale £450.

Not for me either. I think you might need to make the album public for us to view it.

Looking for a bargain bike. Have £350 to spend

The OP hasn't told us why the need for an ebike for what appears to be a relatively short journey of 2 miles each way. I'm not going to be nosy & ask, but if I made the assumption that it isn't for medical reasons, I'd question whether an ebike is needed. £350 would buy a decent bike secondhand...

Preview of the Woosh Santana CD 2018

As a former proof reader, it grates that you refer to the bike as 'Santana' and 'Sant-Ana' on your web page...

    Blackburn 650 Central Front Light

I did ask for a kit review board, but to no avail, so this'll have to go here... I bought this light from Tredz for £30. I had the first opportunity to try it out tonight and I am impressed, especially at the price. It uses a Go-Pro style mount and the reviews I read weren't so sure about it...

Cold Weather: Effect on battery range

The bike is usually in the (integral) garage which doesn't drop down too low & is stored inside at work. My ride is about 30-45 minutes and there is definitely a drop in battery capacity in the colder weather. Earlier this year, I rode in -5C and I was lucky to get home, such was the drop in...

Cold Weather: Effect on battery range

Is there a formula for calculating the effect cold temperatures have on battery capacity? My Oxygen's battery definitely empties quicker on colder mornings like today's and I'd like to know how much.

    Panda Pro/Orbit Orion Conversion

Bloomin' War & Peace, that's what this is becoming! I got the bike out today and started working on it. I replaced the rear brake cable and reinstated the rear Avid BB7 disc brake. I then put the rim tape and tyre on the Alfine 8-speed rear wheel and put it in-situ. I put back the chain...
