Just been shopping! Cube Reaction Race 500

Quick releases also work well for thiefs, unless you need to remove wheel regularly I'd stay with bolt.

I have rockshox airs on hardtail, they are far superior to suntour coils on my sons MTB . If MTBing go air shocks every time. Big plus of airshocks is you can tune them for rider weight and terrain.

News: NEC Cycle Show: 22nd to 24th September

Bear Try a Shimano Steps bike, on paper power is same as Active Plus. I like my wife's Steps bike, controls and display are better than Bosch, 15mph cutoff is a bit sharp compared to Bosch. High power level little lump, neither of these is much of issue in eco or normal where you should be...

Changing Crankset for Smaller one on Shimano E6001

I changed mine to 38, makes big difference having that extra low gear. If you want to go lower again there are 11-40t 9spd cassettes or 11-42 10spd. May need new chain and research if derailleur can handle large sprocket.

    What cranks on Bosch?

The problem is crank center for Bosch drive is lower than normal bike. I'm always hitting rocks and roots, rarely happens on normal bike. 160mm sounds like good place to start.

    2018 Bosch Drive Units Differences?

The motor disengages on existing drives but you still need to pedal though 1:2.5 gearbox that connects to chainring. The new drive eliminates this gearbox so slightly less losses.

    2018 Bosch Drive Units Differences?

Definite worth test riding. You don't have to wait for Cube Acid any bike with these new drives would do for test ride especially if you only interested in drive. I wouldn't worry about reliability, Bosch has be doing this for quite few years now with millions of drives sold. If worst happens...

Just been shopping! Cube Reaction Race 500

With Active Plus and CX you are trading quieter easier unassisted pedalling for faster climbing speed. With 11spd 11-46t cassette Active Plus should climb all but steepest overroad tracks. Your tyres and downhill abilities maybe more limiting factor, what it can go up you may think twice about...

If it was me I'd hold onto the Nexus IGH as will probably not make much different to resale price.

    2018 Bosch Drive Units Differences?

Be surprised it they don't follow Active drives. To compete with Shimano E8000 new motor will need to shrink a bit and have better user interface. Being significantly quieter would give it a big plus over E8000.

    2018 Bosch Drive Units Differences?

The new 2018 active drives are direct drive no gearbox losses when pedalling unassisted, plus quieter. They also support automatic shifting with electric IGH eg Alfine, Rohloff, Nuvinci. No changes with CX or performance drive.
