    Shortlist down to 2 (Orbea/Wisper) - Thoughts/Comments

That's not quite how I interpreted the document we discussed David and perhaps it's wise to wait for their final version. Currently there seems to be only one type approval criteria - that for L1e. But we're way off topic discussing that here. I wouldn't want to hazard an interpretation ahead...

Cadence Sensor, Torque Sensor or Throttle?

Can not agree more! And from within the BA (Bicycle Association) a few of us in the industry have turned their opinion around to support your exact view ER, in their lobbying. As a cost and ease-of-maintenance sensitive manufacturer my preference is for a Speed or Cadence sensor and throttle...

    Shortlist down to 2 (Orbea/Wisper) - Thoughts/Comments

As neither of the bikes mentioned in the OP have throttles how they are used is just a distraction. They are soon to be outlawed in the UK anyway from Jan 2016, as far as "bicycles" are concerned, much to my frustration.

Terry should definitely try both bikes and if possible, broaden his selection (though after a year searching he may not want to). The £300 difference is a chunk of money, but if he values sensitivity of pedaling as the main factor, then I'd say there is little difference in the two bikes. I...

None that can't be overcome by some careful design choices (gears, gear selection and chain), but there is a cost implication. The OP asks about the extra cost of the Bosch system.

Ha! No - not anything other than my observation. Your post was about a bike with a Torque sensor. Absolutely almost completely on topic!

Well, that's not for us to know. But we'd surely just complicate his choice unless we stick to the differences between those two bikes, contributing what we think about their comparative features.

Let's not get off topic. The OP asked specifically about two bikes.

Yep. The system of torque sensing BB and rear hub drive has a lot of advantage in my view.

One of the nicest features of the Bosch is the torque sensor, giving a more natural response from the pedals. But the Wisper also provides this same sensation by using a torque sensing BB and a rear hub motor. So with the Wisper the difficulties with a centre drive transmission train are...

    Juicy folding bike (compact click)

Oh Gawd - You're quite right, and I'm embarrassed to say I don't have a picture to hand. I will remedy tomorrow and upload onto our website. I wouldn't recommend this bike for use on the underground, but two fit happily in the back of a Honda Jazz, not that I'd recognise that car - I'm not a...

Which is more ethical - Woosh or Cyclotrocity?

Yes, I saw the same program, interesting for us as we also have a Fair Trade shop. Yamdude, I don't like to criticise others opinions usually, but you've touched upon a particular concern for me. I've spent several months, in total, working in the one factory we have used for the last 6 years...

Which is more ethical - Woosh or Cyclotrocity?

It's not quite as clear-cut as that. Import duty on road bikes from the far east into the UK is very high - an "anti-dumping duty" imposed by the EU to support its domestic industry. Complete electric bikes only suffer a 6% duty on the whole product. This effectively provides better value...
