    Schwalbe Marathon Plus

As D8veh states... grip levels can be interesting, though I find this with the Schwalbe rubber on Marathons, Marathon plus and Big Apple plus. In rain you expect it, it can come as a painful surprise in slightly damp conditions .. stay off road markings! John

dahon folder conversion - fast and light

Having read the first couple of paragraphs, I did start to wonder why you want an ebike, even more so with the short ride? John

Rear wheel puncture on cargo trike

That's a shame about Boxer, we have one of their early import trikes. As you have a cargo trike, just stick tools etc under one of the seats, though you may get away next time with just popping the tyre off the rim whilst still on the bike and putting a sticky patch on (Slime scab/wilko etc)...

    CONVERTING A BABBOE CARGO

You will probably struggle with a mid drive as Nealh has stated, however any decent rear wheel conversion should do (bit more of a faff if you currently have hub gears). You definitely won't want to travel fast as the trikes are a bit more twitchy under full power, and don't forget to put some...

    2 bikes or 1?

Why change at all? You haven't put any miles on your current bike, get some appropriate tyres for what you are thinking you want to do. Without coming across as antagonistic, I'm guessing when you bought the Kalkhoff you were expecting to do more miles than you have done, it may be the same...

    Kalkhoff bikes/50 cycles

Yep, not a lot of miles, I usually do that in a week. I have been a customer of 50 Cycles in Shoreham and have been happy with their service. John

    Seat/trailers for bigger kids?

We had the same issue with our son, I couldn't find a seat I was happy with, ended up going the cargo trike route. This was definitely not the cheap route, but we do more miles by bike now for shopping, trips to tip etc... though it is massive relative to a bike and trailer.

Who breaks in new rotors and pads?

I always allow brakes to bed in. Though not as critical on modern items due to tighter tolerances, you are putting a lot of stress through the brakes... an item you have fixed on and want to rely on. Don't forget to wipe the rotors over with brake cleaner to remove any post manufacture...

    Bbs01 problem... Knocking sound

I had a problem with my Bbs01 making a knocking sound... https://goo.gl/photos/gECZQAWAdiY4SCSB6 To me it sound like a bearing, removes the crank etc and noise was coming from motor itself. This is it fixed, not as noticeable, but still seems to be there...

    Chain and Sprockets

Funnily enough the guy I commute with went through exactly the same discovery today.... totally forgot about the chainring. Finally forced into action after a few heart stopping moments trying to navigate rush hour traffic, slipping everytime he put the power down. John

Stretching Dahon Speed Uno front fork

As d8veh says, you are talking less than 10mm, it will be fine, worse case is to get a replacement fork from Evans (Tern) for a tenner. John

Looking for Electric assist kit for my recumbent tadpole trike?

Hi Ann, your best bet is a rear wheel hub conversion, plenty of kits about. If you do a search for 'Twinkle' on here you should find some very good examples. I'm very envious of her skills, both building and the write ups! John

News: British e-cargo company launches Shuttle 2

Jeremy started off on here with an import, then setup Velo Electrique... our cargo bike is still going strong, definitely my favourite ride. Great to see they have continued to develop their UK manufacturing and design. Nice chap... I only wish my wife would get me a rocket for the commute to...

    Shaft drive conversion ?

I had a shaft drive Elegance I think it was called from Bicycles4U, the shaft drive was great - simple and clean, shame that the electrics were a crock. The bike got lost with the courier for six weeks then spent another four weeks with the supplier twice over before I got a refund. John

    Help me lose bike weight

Unless you buy a new bike and do a swap, is it really worth the effort? With the crate/basket, I'm guessing you carry a load anyway? I was puzzled with the inner tubes, seemingly holding everything on. John

speculation: Does brexit make the ebike moped law null and void?

No, the UK will adopt all EU law as it stands then start repealing some of them over the following years/decades. John

How fast do you go on legal ebikes that are not derestricted?

Depends on who's pedalling the road bike. Slow on my CX is 19mph, touring cruise at 22-24mph, can push beyond for short sprints. Only option is to pedal harder, but you will get drag from the motor... you can definitely feel it, you're likely to be working very hard to keep up. John

How fast do you go on legal ebikes that are not derestricted?

Yes, so long as the motor cuts out.. in my experience you still get other cyclists moaning, they presume you have a max 15.5mph speed! John
