Fell off my shiny new ebike.. but why?

Good tip, for initial balance problems. Aged 50 I developed Meniere's related to an inner ear disorder, where balance signals from that organ's mechanism become inaccurate. I now find that keeping my head and eyes up, using the horizon as a reference, has improved my balance. I was advised...

I remember. Always suffer falls gladly.

Fell off my shiny new ebike.. but why?

You're as old as you feel. It's just that you feel a fall (and hopefully feel for fools). Not sure what my point is now... Chin up mate.

Which Electric bike to buy its a hard choice

Visit a shop with plenty available to try or attend a show. Your concerns are completely understandable. A visit allows you to check out a shop owner or a manufacturer and a ride answers most questions. The manufacturers who advertise on these forums are all sensible options to narrow down...

    Tour De commuter angleterre!

Nice to focus on the destination rather than the bike for a change. Refreshing. Thank you.

    Hi from the midlands

Not always sensible to get the biggest possible. If the battery isn't being used then longevity suffers. So, if you're only ever going to do no more than 12 miles you should be better off with 10ah. With batteries we find the more they're used the longer they last.

Reliable commuter machine + Sheffield Hills

All of them might be appropriate for you, but you do need to take a test ride as each rider is unique. Buying blind is not a good strategy, IMHO. Pleased to see Juicy on your list.

8 years Dave. Though all our bikes have been dramatically improved during that time. I'm not going to commandeer this thread, but you'd be welcome to visit too, or see the vital components on our prototype bike at the Spin London and Manchester shows. We first showed it at London Excell in January.

Hi Frazer Strangely, I've just met a couple of the folk from Cycleboost whilst seeing the latest in the Raleigh range in Nottingham this morning. RobF's views on the Captus are sensible and I'm fairly certain the smaller battery will not jeopardise you getting to work. We have one available to...

Hill climbing with throttle kalkhoff alternative

D8veh is indeed very knowledgeable, extremely helpful and even suffers fools. His output is such that he can be brusk. Accept that and his advice will be invaluable. Become affronted by his directness and you will be missing out on his very obliging nature.

I'd let it drop now. I've just had a dance and a pint and seen city goalless at half time. Did the world of good. Try it.

Update: It seems the battery purchased was only 24 volts, not the 36v it should have been, after contacting Ian today.

The Bicycle Association on the other hand has clear and unambiguous communication with the DofT on the matter. Who are the Biking Association? Are you sure you mean "as close as is possible". That surely is not true. It's been widely shown on this forum that other people think differently...

Absolutely agree! Each bike rider has their own preference for bike as each bike has its own suitability for rider, and their fitness, and terrain, and as for drive systems and manufacturers claims and even rider claims - all are individual. And as for colours, well that's another matter...
