    Common sense

I'll second that ! Flashing your lights, we all do it, but if you go by the letter of the law we are doing it for the wrong reasons. The Highway Code says: "Flashing headlights. Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey...

    Back to the future.

Certainly different, but I'm not rushing to find my wallet just now ! I did once toy with the idea of doing a CD conversion on a Schwinn stingray chopper, I was in a smokey room at the time  I don't go in smokey rooms any more and can see more clearly now o_O I think ;)

    Stating the obvious ! Tubes

Rob, I think your missing the point, a presta valve will get you out of a jam if you have a flat in either, but a schrader valve will only fit a schrader rim ! If you had a flat in a schrader tube and you couldn't fix it on the side of the road, would you turn me and my presta away if I offered...

    Stating the obvious ! Tubes

OK so I'm a smart ass, :D Two sets of wheels, one has Presta and the other Schrader valves (cos that's what I had at the time) I alway carry a spr tube with a Presta valve, (presta fitting both rims) that's the smart bit. Anywho, yesterday I stopped to help someone with a flat, he was cursing...

Cube reaction hybrid pro29, first impressions

Yes it's a little pricier doing it that way but I saved £130 of the list price of the cube. New wheels, discs & cassette came to £144, I already had my second pr of tyres so it just seamed to make sense & the best way of using my spare tyres. Also I can do a road ride one day and off-road the...

Cube reaction hybrid pro29, first impressions

OK, so not a lot to tell in the last week apart from finally fitting the 12/36 cassette onto my off road wheels. No massive difference from the 11/34 fitted on my road rims, the steepest twistiest wooded trail I use is a little easier (only a little) & I've lost the top off my terminal velocity...

What has happened to the variety?

I'll start off by saying I may be wrong but, that way you don't need to jump in telling me so ;) That's a dig at another forum I use (toy cars)o_O There are two types of forum members, the first is here for answered to his or her specific needs and uses the forum more like a library, here to...

    advice on tyres?

Jinx Ive just been to the garage to get my off road wheels of the shelf ready for the wet weekend and found my front Smart Sam Plus was flat. Easy to find the hole as there was 15mm of blackthorn sticking through into the tube ( right in the middle of the tread ) I'll give it it's due as I...

    advice on tyres?

700c is an old way of measuring rims/tyres (French I think) but it's stuck and is now fairly standard (in Europe) the actual rim size for a 700c is 622mm. Now the Americans on the other hand like to quote the outside diameter of there tyres, so if you put some fat (2.25 inch) tyres on to a 622mm...

    advice on tyres?

Kinega, in your first post you quoted your tyre size as "Schwalbe Rocket Ron 29x2.25" 57-622" that's 57mm wide, the correct size. Some how in a later post your quoting 700x45c, these are not 29" tyres but closer to 28". Anything marked as either 700c or 622 will fit your rims and work but width...

Correct tool for tightening locknuts on brake cables?

Now there's a bit of kit I didn't know I needed:confused: There's me squeezing the break lever gently at first then harder if I'm not slowing down quick enough. Now I can just squeeze away without thinking about it:) All we need now is a breaking system that can be operated from our phones and...

Correct tool for tightening locknuts on brake cables?

Yes Smee has it. Finger tight us all that's needed, if it was ment to be any tighter the manufacture would have put flats on it for a spanner ;)

Cube reaction hybrid pro29, first impressions

"Eh Gringo, 45 mph thats amazing." It is one hell of a hill :D And a bitch to go up (un-assisted) By my best reckoning at its steepest, it drops 55 meters over about 0.48 km. I'm already traveling at about 20mph when the steep bit starts so it's just a case of getting your head down and going...

Mid Drive motor noise. Differences between makes.

Was that the 2014 Bosch motor ? My Cube has a whirring sort of noise but it's not loud, in fact today I was enjoying the great outdoors listening to the birds while doing about 14 mph when out of the blue, a pr of Lycra's wizz'd passed without a word, they made me jump  Fortunately this was...

Cube reaction hybrid pro29, first impressions

Point one, yes if we get a dry summer I'll be enjoying it lots :) Point two, The small sprocket rotates faster than the peddles (internally geared) I don't think about it, it rides like an ordinary setup

Cube reaction hybrid pro29, first impressions

OK my tyre story. Prior to buying the cube I already had a pr of 2.1" Smart Sam plus's (as new) so at no extra cost I had the shop fit some 2.1" Big Apples instead of the std tyres. Shopping at Chainreactions I brought some Shimano MT35 wheels & discs (same as original discs) all for £125 :) I...

    Bright idea ?

Somewhere between sane & insane is unsane  This is my Unsane idea for a spare seat-post & handlebars To create a stable upside down bike while I'm changing wheels  Also keeps my saddle out of the dirt :p

electric bike - 1st one - help please!

I'm biased but your £1800 would get you a Cube 29er and I'm sure the dealer would put some guards and a prop stand on it for you to make it more commuter friendly. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/cube-reaction-hybrid-pro29-first-impressions.17754/
