Help! Intermittent fault on battery - causing loss of power

I am finally ready to solder the new BMS. I'm quite happy about the C P & B wires - straight replacements. But reading through everything again before I started I was not sure I had understood everything you has said. My existing balance harness plug goes red to white to black. The cumulative...

Love my Wisper...hate its squeaky brakes...

Is that because the Disc is warped & letting the calliper have free sideways movement allows the pistons to track the shape of the disc?

    STVZO Lights (with lenses)

Agreed - I use the original low powered LEDs for flashing. I think that studies have shown that flashing lights are more likely to be seen, but they only need to be seen not blind.

    STVZO Lights (with lenses)

Finally my solution to the fuse box. I ran the wires into a waterproof box. Used an inline fuse holder This is still a work in progress hence the screwed connectors, as I intend to add additional electrical items as & when needed.

    STVZO Lights (with lenses)

When using the XT60s its best to have both parts connected, so that when soldering the pin does not move. I used this adaptor (as I wasn't sure which type would fit on my bike the best) as the other part. a- It makes it easy to ensure you solder the correct coloured wire b-It acts as a heat...

    STVZO Lights (with lenses)

In order to power these lights I need to access the main battery. I had been considering this for six years, but never felt comfortable, until I was forced to change the battery. The new battery came with bare leads, so I purchased a set of Anderson connectors to match the existing Motor leads...

    STVZO Lights (with lenses)

I got & fitted a set of these lights. My feedback Front light - I purchased the one with a switch, which is easily accessible whilst cycling. Advantages - nice & bright on unlit country roads - sufficient for say 15mph, I would use additional lights for travelling farher or faster. Disadvatages...

    Stop sun in your eyes

I did a previous post, thinking that I could find a helmet with a good sun visor. https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/cycling-helmet-with-sun-visor.34981/#post-508080 having checked them out, they did not offer any advantages over my existing helmet. Now that the low sun is back I thought...

Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

I think that we would like that to be true & believe that it is true, but I have not seen any evidence. Every single car driver breaks the speed limit every single time they drive! I'll explain my reasoning - the limit is say 20mph, the only way not to exceed that would be to drive at say...

    Power cutting out on BBSHD

Made the switch wires from the BMS into a loop, to turn the battery on. Went for test ride - 100 yards max 100 watts = power loss. So switch also now ruled out as the problem. Ordered a new BMS. Started to read up about how to replace a BMS. I must say I am really learning a lot from all of...

    Power cutting out on BBSHD

Ok - pulled switch connector off BMS - no power showing on battery outputs. So the easiest way to make a bridge with the connector back on the BMS is to unplug the switch & use two connectors with a short bit of wire in-between. I should then get voltage on battery outputs & can give a test...

Help! Intermittent fault on battery - causing loss of power

lifted the red card, used a lolly stick to ping the welds, all felt fine

    Power cutting out on BBSHD

There are two plugs on the BMS. Mutlipin with the sense wires Double pin to the on/off switch. Can I just clarify, before I do anything, that your suggestions is to pull the double pin plug off the BMS, stick a volt meter on the battery case connectors to check voltage & then take a test ride...

Help! Intermittent fault on battery - causing loss of power

https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/power-cutting-out-on-bbshd.35681/ My previous thread was trying to find the fault - & suggestions lead me to firstly check the battery. As it was an intermittent fault, the only reliable way was with a replacement battery, which I purchased, & has allowed...

    Disregarding UK pedelec laws

I anticipate that it will be a decade at least before all urban areas have a 20mph limit & until then there is no incentive for drivers to consider alternatives.

    Disregarding UK pedelec laws

I agree, based upon current thinking. But change happens, laws are revised etc Doing nothing & maintaining the status quo means that congestion, pollution, obesity etc remain as unsolved problems. Its good to think of alternatives, discuss the implications, find faults etc. But I hope that...
