    first encounter with electric car

This morning going along the single track country road, numerous bends, short visibility. Normally I hear a car before seeing it come around the bend, but today for the first time I met an electric car. As its a single track road, I did what I always do whether riding or driving and stopped. The...

Help! Removable ebike parts and security. Leaving displays on or off the bike?

A quick & unobtrusive way of hiding a suspension seat post is to place a plastic bag over the seat, it just looks like you are keeping the seat clean.

Help! Removable ebike parts and security. Leaving displays on or off the bike?

I look at the inconvenience of walking home, compared to the time taken to fit the locks. So I'm happy to use 3 u locks - frame & both wheels. Seconds to lock/unlock, Weight no problem as its an ebike. I do have a rear pannier set, so use the detachable top bag to carry the battery into the...

Help! Bbshd on Cube Aim Pro.

"Is that the chain wheel that came with your kit? The chain line looks pretty good, did you have to use any packing to get that?" That is the standard 46T chain ring, I did try a cheap 42t chain ring, but it puts the chain line further away from the centre of the bike, with resultant chain...

Oh no , not cheating again !

just remember that according to surveys that those using ebikes are more likely to cycle & for longer distances, whilst normal bicycles are used perhaps only a couple of times in a year, so you are cheating by not sitting around on the sofa because the effort of pedalling uphill stops you...

Advice on ebike conversion kit for 30mile commute

Looking at this from a different viewpoint You want to cover a 30 mile commute (including 2 hills) & would like a top speed of 30mph. What type of roads & traffic will you be facing? If you are cycling in SE London, then the top speed is irrelevant, as its all stop/start & you do not have the...

Woman hit by Cyclist awarded a payout

"As far as insurance is concerned - I thought that my bike was covered for theft on my home insurance." With my house insurance I have specified the ebike under the all risk, so its covered against theft including when away from your home. the only stipulation was to use a gold rated lock.

Woman hit by Cyclist awarded a payout

" when if he had had insurance the limit would have been less than £7000 - anyway - how does that get to be OK." that's the bit I did not know, how is that right that if you have insurance the insurance company has a maximum liability of say £7k but if you were say a pedestrian with no...

    cycling helmet with sun visor

"I use a baseball cap under my helmet with 5 inch peak, or bill as they call them in America. Keeps sun out of my eyes and rain off my glasses." I used a peaked cap during the winter to deal with the low sun, and it worked well, but I find it too hot to spring, summer & autumn use.

    cycling helmet with sun visor

"Extra long front peak or a eye shield type ?" until you said & others posted links I did not know the eye shield type existed. No good for me as I use a mirror attached to my eye glasses, as I find that better than a mirror attached to some part of the bike.
