Hoping to increase driver passing distance at night, I've glued front and rear reflectors to my wing mirrors.

Size matters not brightness! Think about oncoming traffic - which do you notice more - a bus or a bike So the wider you can appear the better. Put your front lights at either end of your handlebars. Put your rear lights on a bar attached to a rear pannier. Yes, brighter lights are better...

BBS HD power cutting off and on

When I fault finded I found it best to replace one part at a time. I had an intermittent fault with my BBSHD that caused it to stop working. It turned out to be battery fault, but every test I did on the battery showed no problems. So easiest part to replace is the battery, then the...

    BBS02 connection

General advice only as I'm not qualified so what I did was to get some spare wire & spent some time learning how to solder - watch lots of youtubes then practise then use a connector that is rated for the amps of your motor/battery as otherwise you are just creating an old fashion wire fuse...

Hoping to increase driver passing distance at night, I've glued front and rear reflectors to my wing mirrors.

No I have white LEDs at the front & red LEDs at the back (to be seen or noticed) the orange LED indicators are to the outside of those other LEDs during daylight I never use indicators - just stick my arm out but at night just before using the indicators I will switch the other LEDs off so that...

    Pedelec free whisper just introduced

I use the throttle when moving off whilst lifting my foot onto the peddle, much safer as I don't wobble side to side.

Why car drivers DO NOT see cyclists

I'm obviously not part of the majority as I prefer to cycle at night. I only cycle to go to the shops, so no need to look at the views. During the evening there is less road traffic and I have found that overtaking vehicles allow more room, presumably because it's more difficult to judge...

    Preventing bike being stolen

Try not to park the bike in the same place at the same time, as a pattern makes it easier for thieves to recognise an opportunity & then know how long it will be available. I also use three U locks (don't worry about the weight as the bike & motor does the work) & always remove the battery. Your...

20mph Speed Limit for Wales next year ?

When driving a ICV using gears with a analogue speedometer it is difficult to maintain a specific speed but that will soon change - new cars now will provide a warning about the speed limit. The perception might be that the speed is too slow but the reality during the day is that any...

    video camera apps

My old action camera (very cheap generic) battery is now down to 5 minutes life. Before I get a replacement it occurred to me that I could use an app on my phone. Any suggestions from those who have tried this route, as I did try out a couple but they do not like it when I turn the screen off.

    Help! Improve Bbshd range ASAP

Search this site for BBS & cables & you will find lots of posts that will help. Getting increased range is easy if you change the controller to work with your bike & your riding style, as the factory settings are just generic. I was amazed at the difference when I did mine, but it took several...

    How to run a BBSHD48v at 52v?

Word of warning - I had the 52v battery that was the same size as the 48v, it only lasted two years - the cells were fine but they were only held together by the welding, as the supports were removed to allow the extra cells for the 52v, and it was the welding that caused intermittent power...

E-bike light set. Anyone use these?

I accept the clutter of wires as it makes the bike look like a "heath robinson" DIY non professional job - hence hopefully unsaleable so not worth stealing!

Battery starting to fade on my Carrera Vulcan E

Have you tried a battery warmer? A friend made one from the hand/foot warmers powered by USB from the battery, then insulated the whole battery. He estimated that it made a 10% difference, with only a small heat pad.
