    Security

I used to leave the battery on the bike, then discovered how easy it was just using a screwdriver to force the battery lock, so now if I am leaving the bike for more than a few minutes I take the battery with me. It goes in my detachable rear pannier & then into the basket in the shop.

    Disregarding UK pedelec laws

"It might sound counter-intuitive at first that faster cyclists are safer cyclists, but the stats reveal that, in general, it’s true. So, if faster cyclists are safer cyclists, riding an e-bike is the safest way to cycle." https://ebikebc.com/speed-differential-ebike-safety/

    Disregarding UK pedelec laws

if people are disregarding a law - you need to ask - Why & what effect. My guess on why is the current legislation is impractical. It was established to maintain a difference between pedal & motorised power. Nowadays we need to move on & consider the benefits of changing that on the basis of...

    Help! bbshd ,battery? issue

QUOTE./ Balance is easy to check. all you have to do is measure the voltage as soon as you take it off charge. The further the voltage is from 58.8V, the more out of balance it is. Ok - I have a similar battery, but it is mainly charging to 57.6v, but charger output is 58.8v. I connect the...

    close passing by motorists

I think that the only safe way for a car etc to overtake a cycle is on the other side of the road. i.e. wait for a gap in traffic then pull over to the oncoming lane, but these days very few like to wait even those few seconds to carry a safe manoeuvre.

    close passing by motorists

“Our results demonstrate that a single stripe of white paint does not provide a safe space for people who ride bikes,” Dr Beck said. “When the cyclist and driver share a lane, the driver is required to perform an overtaking manoeuvre. This is in contrast to roads with a marked bicycle lane...

Is it a Bird or is it a Plane ?

When on shared path cycling the same direction as walkers I slow to their pace to overtake, unless there is several yards of clearance. Electronic horns are loud enough but not recognised by pedestrians. On the road I have had to resort to shouting when people have just stepped out without...

    License for bikes ?

The idea behind ANPR & the concept of number plates are to allow collection of taxation, not catching of law breaking. Think about it, you need traffic police to enforce road legislation. A licence plate is just a bit of plastic with some numbers on it, any criminal can easily find a way...

    License for bikes ?

it will not work, as those who break the law will circumvent it anyway (false/stolen/duplicate number plates). It could have been anyone who attacked the peer (roller skates/skateboard/hoverboard/mobility buggy) it just happened to be someone riding a bike. The problem is a thug not a cyclist...

    no need for high cadence

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/02/190212120114.htm Pedalling at cadence greater than 90 revolutions per minute is advantageous for professional cyclists, but appears inefficient for recreational cyclists. When cycling at low exercise intensity, skeletal muscle oxygenation is mostly...

Drivers could face minimum distance for overtaking cyclists

Having read various articles saying that the law was going to be changed, I contacted the Government to find out how it would be enforced, after a van brushed my shoulder as it overtook me. Here is the reply I received today. "Thank you for your email of 7 January to the Department for...
