The development of the brand new 2020 Wispers... in Pictures!

A quick update for those interested in our Wisper Wayfarer project. We are almost there, bikes have been tested and certified, the software has been upgraded giving the smooth powerful ride we were aiming for and we have made our final tweaks... We have added a 700C model with 21" frame...

Hub or Mid Drive? Any views?

I agree, 48V bikes are heavier and more expensive but the power is formidable compered to 36V bikes. Which system to choose as always comes down to where the bikes are going to be used and by whom, a light weight commuter bike will benefit from the 36V system and maybe a 180 or 200W motor...

BREXIT the silver lining or lead cosh?

I agree re AD, now we have all sorted ourselves out we certainly don't want the disruption again, it was expensive and most importantly blatantly unjust but the money has now been lost or spent and we move on. If I were a betting man though I would say that AD will end in 2021.

BREXIT the silver lining or lead cosh?

Any speculation is probably shaky at the moment. Wisper are certainly moving production from Taiwan to Portugal so we can confidently expand and service the European market, we sincerely hope that we will be able to export from Portugal to the UK without penalty. If that's the case, there is no...

BREXIT the silver lining or lead cosh?

I hope that you are right. However according to the Bicycle Association of Great Britain the Government currently are taking the stance that Tariffs will be dropped. On the upside if we are as a country are able to buy cheaper eBikes in future surely this is a good thing?

BREXIT the silver lining or lead cosh?

If the pound gets stronger imports will become even cheaper. Obvious I know!

BREXIT the silver lining or lead cosh?

The change to our current laws will happen anyway when we leave the EU, Anti Dumping Tariffs aren't based in UK law they are European. I agree this will herald the return of cheap bikes from China.

BREXIT the silver lining or lead cosh?

The content rule hasn’t changed in Europe for those holding a licence. If a company is building less than 299 bikes a month they don’t even need a licence. I’m not sure if one is necessary in the UK. I assume we have the same rules.

It was Neal. We loved it, and so it seems did our customers.

    Help! PAS does not work

Have you checked the distance between the magnets on the disc and the sensor? If it's too big the sensor will not pick up the signal from the magnets, for the same reason make sure that the magnets are clean.

I'm in a burying the hatchet kind of mood Rob. As for the flag, it's on it's way back! All the best, David

BREXIT the silver lining or lead cosh?

Just a thought.... now we will be considering bringing bikes in from China again for the UK anyway, but will continue to build in Portugal for Europe. Rather than deal locally with our nearest trading bock are we as a nation going to be pushed into sending ship loads of cargo to and from the US...

BREXIT the silver lining or lead cosh?

Exporting to Europe will be fun! I wonder what it will be like exporting from Europe to UK? We start our Portuguese production in February so either way it will be an interesting time! I suppose there will be a price hike on European bikes and a price drop on bikes coming from China making...

BREXIT the silver lining or lead cosh?

From the BAGB today. The UK will now almost certainly leave the EU on 31st Jan 2020, but there'll be no change in trading processes or tariff rates until 31st Dec 2020. After that, a trade deal, 'no deal' exit or an extension of the transition period are all still possible. Even if a 'deal' is...
