    Hall sensor connection

He means the pas sensor disc that is fitted on the bottom bracket. The pas disc should have either 5, 8 or 10 magnets and this determines what to set the C1 parameter to. Also the disc must be very close to the sensor otherwise the hall sensor won’t trigger. Many people have problems in this...

Is it stuck in walk mode all of the time? If so then there is something else not right and the hall sensors may be ok.

Help! NPT-SWX02 Rev 1.5 2015 Hall Sensors Info

Your Motor is a Bafang SWX02 The white hall sensor is for the speed sensor to the controller, which is unused on many motors. There are three other hall sensors soldered to the pcb for the phase signals into the controller. You should test them first as well as the controller before replacing...

    Hall sensor connection

You have no choice but to ignore the white wire for the time being as your motor doesn’t have a speed sensor fitted there is nothing you can do about it at the moment. You can always fit an external speed sensor if you can’t get the controller to work properly. KT controllers have different...

    Hall sensor connection

If you have a white wire, it’s for the speed sensor in some motors and temperature sensor in others. Some controllers don’t accommodate either. For the hall wires the usual colour combinations are: Red = +5v for all of the hall sensors Black = Gnd for all of the hall sensors Yellow, Blue &...

    Electric Cargo Bikes

The “250w” motor has massive torque. It’s also oil cooled with steel gears. Specifications say it can handle a payload of up to 300kg. And a twin motor configuration at “125w” per motor with 226Nm total torque, the payload increases to 500kg...

    Some advice needed please...

Duralac is a horrible messy stuff to use. If you really must use SS fixings on an aluminium frame then you are better off using a corrosion block grease because it won’t clog up the threads.

    Some advice needed please...

Stainless steel screws and aluminium casings aren’t a good idea due to galvanic corrosion. The screw will rot away the aluminium and turn it into fine white powder.

    Carrera E Vengeance - Bafang BFSWX02 36V250W (12) & S866

Wrong. P07 should be set to 100 for his motor not 1 or 6.

    KT36 Controller and PAS sensor

Try pedalling backwards. If that works then set C1 to 5, 6 or 7.

    Carrera E Vengeance - Bafang BFSWX02 36V250W (12) & S866

I can help with some of it. Your motor has 20 magnets and a reduction ratio of 5:1, so P07 should be set to 100

Yeah, I think the cross hatching on the drawing indicates the flats.

    Help! Street Machine GT conversion

Maybe it does. I’ve just had a look again and some of the photos indicate that it has flats, but they are low resolution. So it could be good to go. The technical drawing doesn’t show the dimensions for the flats. It should say 12mm x 10 mm

    Help! Street Machine GT conversion

One thing I’ve noticed is that AKM motor doesn’t have any flats on the motor shaft. Which is probably ok if you want to run at 250 watts, but if you intend to booost the power then you won’t be able to use any torque washers or torque arms on it

I didn’t fit a gear sensor because I kept reading it was too sluggish, but that may just be hearsay. And I have taped up the connector inside the wiring loom now and I don’t want to redo all of that lot again. I should have pulled it out of the main loom and sealed it off separately. I...

Help! BBS02 Build help advice needed

Just remember to use your gears with a mid drive motor. If you leave it in a high gear all of the time the high torque causes too much stress on the motor and drive train and will damage the nylon motor gears. Also try to throttle back and ease off the peddling when changing gear otherwise you...

Help! e-City Bike/Coyote Connect Repair - Motor probably gone

The only way that you can test it at home to find out what’s going on is to use a multimeter to check the various voltages coming in and out of the controller and feeding the various peripherals like battery, throttle, pas and hall sensors. Then you can start to make some sense of what is going on.

He probably means he couldn’t find a nice fit on the brake cylinder and levers on your M2 brakes for the magnets and hall sensors. They can be a pain to set up properly because there aren’t many nice flat surfaces to stick them to. I used hot glue for the magnets because the double sided sticky...
