    smallest viable battery..

You have to size your battery for the maximum that the controller can deliver and add a bit for safety. So if the maximum draw on your controller is 15 amps then you really need a battery that can deliver 20 amps. Your motor is likely to be operating at over 500w uphill unless you are giving it...

Review my latest battery build? Molicel p42a 10s4p 21700

It’s only really worth it if you are building batteries regularly. For a one off build, once you have bought all of the equipment its close to and possibly more than the cost of buying a new battery with proper cells. I considered building one myself but the cost, hassle and especially risk of...

    Which E-bike should I buy?

There have been quite a few police crackdowns in city centres around the UK during the last couple of years. Mostly in pedestrianised shopping areas. These have resulted in confiscation of plenty of delivery riders e-bikes. New York and California police are also clamping down on illegal bikes...

Buying an eBike today. Please adviseeee!

Engwe M20 seems to be selling well in the UK, presumably due to the low price. They are supplied via their Polish warehouse. It looks really poor build quality but must appeal due to the relatively high performance straight out of the box for just over £1000 for the single battery version. I...

Vibration Testing the Omnicell no spot welds battery system

Vruzend sell weldless/solderless kits as well. They do make the overall size of the pack bigger and they aren’t as cheap as welding. https://vruzend.co.uk/collections/battery-kits

    BBS01B chainline

Here’s a German spin on a chain line template. They have this one for the BBS01/02 and there is another that I used for the BBSHD. I know the BBSHD template works because I have used it. I printed it off, cut it out and inserted it into my BB and it was spot on. My chain line was perfect with...

    Do I need brake sensors?

Yeah, I’ve had a couple of whiskey throttle moments without brake cut offs and it’s not fun.

    Help! Batribike Advice Please

Canbus is a digital communication system between the battery, display, controller and motor. If the bike uses a canbus system it’s very difficult to replace existing components with aftermarket parts, because the new parts won’t communicate with the old parts.

    Decathlon ST100

The budget £1000 e-bikes from Decathlon and Halfords are ok if all you want is a basic e-bike, but they use cheaper components to keep the cost down. which is fine if you aren’t too demanding on them. For example, they use mechanical disk brakes instead of hydraulic because they are cheaper. It...

    Full suspension e bike

I considered drilling some holes in it to provide some airflow, but that would just let all of the muck in to clog it up. I’m going to keep an eye on it during the dry summer months to see if I have a temperature issue. Here is a “clean” photo that shows a close up. The white things are pencil...

    Full suspension e bike

I was concerned about damaging the motor so I made a bash guard to protect it. The downside is the motor doesn’t get any direct airflow for cooling. The upside is it doesn’t get caked in mud clogging up the cooling fins. I don’t know much about the Tongshen motor. I prefer cadence to torque...

    Full suspension e bike

Mid drive motor is the best for a technical full suspension bike. Battery location and fitment is usually a problem with them and can affect handling. I opted to use a backpack battery. Here’s my bike. It’s a retro full suspension Rockrider Fire with a BBSHD.
