    Sevenoaks Electric Bikes

Interesting, is having a blue badge a requirement to ride these bikes, cannot find any decent info. Anyway, not having a blue badge, if a 500W kit became available that would get up hills with stop/start then probably I'd get one and sell current kit. Until then I don't really think a a lot of...

    E-bike For a Child

For sure I have kids, daughter early 20s and 14yr old boy who has cycled to school for 2yrs now mostly on his own and we have our own 'safe' routes across west end to avoid the really busy roads. He's way more sensible than I was at that age, my biggest worry is that he'll get his new bike...

    E-bike For a Child

In general I agree however a 10yr old out in any town on an ebike is going to get robbed...state of the nation...

Thanks for the link, I didn't read all the posts (crikey 4 pages+), but from what I've gathered disabled people are feeling bumped by the lack of power available to them if they end up having to stop on a hill/gradient of any significance with the anaemic currently legal motors most of them...

So I could sail up that hill easily at 15mph with my rear hub even with a stop then start. It's not wreckless to accelerate away from say lights and up a steep hill (with throttle to get you started then pedalling and moving up thro' PAS from 1->5 in a few seconds), this is the experience I...

    E-bike For a Child

On a trail where worst case is broken bones, maybe, personally I wouldn't have let either of my kids when they were ten out on a powered ebike. Imagine having to explain to your wife etc. ... Other side of coin is very young kids have been riding motorbikes doing off road stuff for donkeys...

    Sevenoaks Electric Bikes

I'd like to see a Woosh vid of someone riding the 2 same bikes mentioned above (mid vs hub), and see which performs best up hills with same 250W power and battery?

    Sevenoaks Electric Bikes

I think it would be interesting to test ride two bikes that are basically same but one with mid drive and the other with rear hub to see the differences in performance, fun etc. The difference between 50Nm and 100Nm confuses me a little, you lose all that through drive train? However I love my...

Telegraph Transport Headline, "Fears over plans to double e-bike power

If you're caught in storm on a bike remember to put on ALL the headphones you have on you and also remember to tuck it in.... Instead of passing through his body, which doctors say would have stopped his heart and damaged internal organs, the charge went down the headphone cable, attached to...

Telegraph Transport Headline, "Fears over plans to double e-bike power

I was thinking that getting hit by lightning whilst on a bike must be pretty rare...apparently not... This is my favourite, I did laugh, still not sure if it's a wind up or not (read the article)...

You also don't know in flats who has chip pan on or has fallen asleep on couch with a lit cigarette, neither of these are banned from flats.

Telegraph Transport Headline, "Fears over plans to double e-bike power

The shock/horror picture (is it stock....?), shows a dinner plate that is probably 1000W to 1500W. What's that got to do with increasing legal limit from 250W to 500W? Nothing..... More lazy right wing journalism, they should focus on the real issue that the masses need informed about and...

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

OK, I've taken the bait, I've got a big brown drinking voucher that says you can't cross the Alps on bike with 250W rating....yes I mean 'you'. Cosmetic, no, a change for the better and the future I think. Also, you shouldn't let 'little children, elderly and dog walkers' on to bike...

Yes, just do this, it's a 10min job even if you're not great at soldering, strip the wires, twist together to test, when happy solder (slide on heat shrink first), then wrap around some waterproof electrical tape, sorted! The connecting cable you posted pic of above just adds more crap that...

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

Hmm, don't really understand what you're on about here... I can limit my 1500W rear hub to 15mph if I so choose but I'll get to 15mph faster than 250W and going up steep road hills (never do offroad, I even avoid grass if I can...), I will zoom up hill at 15mph with 1500W (capable of over 1800W...

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

Yes, I just got my flyerID (free, valid 5yrs) and operatorID (tenner, valid 1yr), from CAA for my drones (I have a new 'pro' drone coming tomorrow!), this would on paper seem a potential sensible approach. The 'owner/operator' of the ebike eg: you or the company you're working for would require...

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

I believe that the reason there are so many higher powered ebikes out there is because 250W is too anaemic if you live anywhere with steep hills (this is a separate issue from a bike being limited to 15.5mph). If 500W had been an option when I was researching then there is a reasonable chance...

As I don't really go out on the wet it not been an issue for me. I just had a quick look and with my throttle I cannot see how it being upside down would allow more rain to get in than it being other way up. Throttle off: Throttle on full:

I've mounted my thumb throttle next to right side grip upside down, so I use my thumb to move it UP to accelerate. I prefer this and it's safer as if I have a bump tendency is to push down on throttle making it worse, it's more like a dead-mans handle this way.
