Sram GX Eagle AXS Upgrade Kit

You can convert a whole bike to electric for that amount.

Suspension seatposts question asked by oldie

I also have a Suntour SP 12 NCX (after recommendations here - thanks all!). My only minor criticism is that it doesn't seem to have any rebound damping - you hit a hole/bump and you bounce down, and then back up again at about the same rate. Which is better than a hard whack, but not as...

    Bike Workstand

Ah, that is the one downside - all the handlebar gubbins. I found this bell sits conveniently lower than the stem bolts. It works reasonably well - just about loud enough: https://www.knog.com/product/oi-classic-large/ Or just mount the bell facing downwards. I can't help you with your other...

    Welcome - love the name!

Thinking of selling my E-bike but worried about the process and what to ask?

I'm with Gubbins - if you want it to definitely sell, then start very low. You'll get lots of attention (initially chancers having a hopeful bid), but by the 6th day (assuming a 7 day listing) you'll have several solid bidders watching carefully. I've sold motorbikes worth £4k+ starting at £100...

    Bike Workstand

Am I the only person left in the world that just turns their bike upsidedown? :(

Thinking of selling my E-bike but worried about the process and what to ask?

Re: price - do it as an auction. If you advertise it correctly (good description - as above, be honest, good images, and time it for Sunday evening) then I can't think of any reason not put it on eBay. It's a market - you'll get what it's worth. Just don't cock up the listing! Measure it...

Military buying phone app tracking data

My point was that commercial interest will centre on car owners first. They're richer than ebike riders - at least that's what the algorithm will say - a car purchase is £10-80k, and an eBike is £1-8k as a random example. In terms of general data mining I understand your points - I write...

Military buying phone app tracking data

It seems unlikely to me that ebike users are an interesting target. Not when every new car comes with a SIM & satnav built in.

Help! light bike very good on steep hills?

Agreed, Ruth! 'Light' in eBike terms is, I'd say, 14-16Kg, and featherweight is 11-13Kg. In 2021 anyway. Pricing for light is £2-3k, and featherweight is £4-10k. If you're reading this in 2031, you'll probably have a chuckle at those weights & prices.

    Long commute question

This is very clear. NICE 2010: https://www.evidence.nhs.uk/document?id=1652574&returnUrl=search%3fq%3dpassive%2bsmoking 11.10 Summary Passive smoking is a significant cause of death and disability in children as well as adults, and of smoking uptake among children and young people. However...

Perfume doesn't normally kill. That's the difference. But it would make a fine scenario for a Bond villain.

    Long commute question

I'd treat that hive advice the same as I'd treat the bullsh*t on the back of any beauty product from Boots/Superdrug. With care. Underneath there may be some scientific basis, but 90% of it is fluff / guff.

    Comfort V Weight penalty

People in the TdF are REALLY weird shapes - thighs the width of their chests, and so on. I wouldn't be suprised if their arses were also weird. Just saying. However, having just added a Suntour suspension post, I'd say you could easily live without one. They're OK, but not a necessity...

    General clothing

Ah - I meant the polka dot + mirror shades folk. No harm in wearing bright. I have a similar waterproof so bright and orange for motorcycling that I'm usually tail-end Charlie because I can be seen a mile away.

    General clothing

I find padded shorts and cycling shoes are the bare min if you're looking not to wear cycling kit / not look like a divvy. :p Then add generic T-shirt & fleece: - Santic Mens Cycling Shorts - not bad for the price - Specialized Sonoma shoes from a many moons ago. They have a reasonably hard...

Help! light bike very good on steep hills?

5mph and zero effort is still damned impressive! A Boardman / Orbea / Ribble would need to be going 8-10mph to get decent assistance. Unless you modified the PAS sensor on an Orbea, for example, to have closer packed magnets?

Help! light bike very good on steep hills?

Basically, the trade-off is weight versus power. More power usually indicates bigger battery, motor, etc. And how steep is 'steep'? If you mean in the 10% range then a Boardman (Fazua-based), Orbea, or Ribble (ebikemotion-based) will be good choices in terms of weight - around 15-16Kg, and in...
