ANYBODY TRIED THESE ?....... china comes to town

14 orders, incredible. Do you build bikes for a hobby or friends etc? You must have gained a lot of experience self-building.. you should make a YouTube channel :) There's a lot of interesting characters on there with unusual hobbies and lots of knowledge..there's one guy called River who...

    Electric kit or new bike?

Hi Iain, welcome :) I would definitely recommend the DIY route if you're happy with your bike and want to save some money.. I'm on my second conversion now and would never consider buying a ready made bike.. it's a really good experience going the DIY route, you learn a lot, but more importantly...

    Solutions to video camera shake

Yeah I noticed the handlebar movement right away on this video which is the first one I've shot on a small wheel bike... oddly enough though, the video seemed much steadier in terms of vertical shake and vibration compared to my 26" folding MTB which was terrible! I would have expected the...

Is there any hub drive bike worth paying more than £1700?

How much does it cost Dave? That's a good weight for a full size? bike! My self-build 26" was about 20-21kg, but it did have a steel frame.

ANYBODY TRIED THESE ?....... china comes to town

Hate to sound like a spoil sport here. I'm all for lower priced batteries but it's often a case of "buyers beware" on eBay these days. It's very hard to tell who you're dealing with thanks to the lapse way eBay is being run. There are many sellers operating out of China, using eBay UK...

Is there any hub drive bike worth paying more than £1700?

Another thing about expensive (and heavy) bikes.. if most of the cost is in a big battery (15Ah or 20Ah) is that really an economic and sensible buy? You have to give some thought to whether you will use that much battery capacity..if you will use half that capacity you're basically paying for...

Is there any hub drive bike worth paying more than £1700?

I agree about the weight Lynda.. normally cheaper bikes are associated with heavier weight (i.e. more than 21kg)..and that's usually the trade-off. For such a high price, one would expect state of the art technology both on the bike and in the battery and something super light. Weight is...

Is there any hub drive bike worth paying more than £1700?

I'm not sure about hub drive and how that fits into pricing, the way I see it, I just look at the bike and what I want it for, whether it presents good value for money etc. I think just as with any items, there are different target markets for any given product. There's always going to be a...

    Opinions plse on SAD lamps

I've seen you can get these "daylight" light bulbs which provide a brighter and more natural light spectrum so that might be a cheaper way for you to try this with your wife..put one of those in the room she spends most of her time and see if it helps.

Riding unpowered...do you still get a kick from it?

Do you think smaller wheeled bikes are just easier to ride un-powered for those of us less fit, than bigger road bikes? Or maybe it's just a case of good (and correct use of) gearing on a bike regardless of the wheel size. I've found riding my 16" Mezzo a whole different experience to riding...

Raspberry PI - The ideal e-bike computer?

I haven't really used it beyond booting it up.. I think it's ok for its intended purpose, hacking code, or as others have suggested just using as a simple small media player to play movies and music on your TV. One other possible application I did consider was as a battery powered/solar...

OK here's the video you've all been waiting for... da daaa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zSIDdvi4gg After all that, the quality doesn't look as good as the original after YouTube have done a number on it! I saved it using the standard definition YouTube resolution but think it may have...

    Solutions to video camera shake

Anyho, while I'm waiting for this file to finish uploading.. I'll share my conclusion for the solution to camera shake (for poor people who can't afford those fancy sporty helmet cameras).. Small camera (MD80 mini cam, 808, 909 keyring cams or such like) = inexpensive, low weight & easy to fix...

Raspberry PI - The ideal e-bike computer?

That's interesting..I didn't know you could get an SD usb interface..whatever will they think of next! I don't think I'd be able to upgrade my HTC Desire to Android 4 mind.. It's only on 2.2 or 2.3.. it would be nice if I could use USB on it though as the GPS is very very good.. I use Maverick...

    Opinions plse on SAD lamps

Yeah that's good advice neptune, I think just getting a bit of exercise that involves some fresh air each day makes all the difference in how you feel. I like jogging in the mornings myself but a bike ride is just as good. It's not all negative about the dark nights and cold winter, there's some...
