    Bluetooth and mobile phone question

I do that all the time. The police have even seen me do it and never say anything, in fact they smiled and said hello. Heh.

    Bluetooth and mobile phone question

Interesting. So according to that, you have to have a red rear reflector AND a red light? Yet for the front, it reads like the white reflector is optional if you have a white light on the front: If that is correct, I better put my rear reflector back on! I took it off thinking I didn't need...

    Opinions plse on SAD lamps

Never tried them myself but I also get the winter blues and find St John's Wort very effective.. I use the tincture which I find works a lot better than tablets and is easier to dose. 10 drops in a bit of orange juice once daily does me. I can really notice the difference when I stop taking it...

Raspberry PI - The ideal e-bike computer?

incidentally, the Nokia n810 is a fantastic little device and they can be picked up very cheap on eBay (there was a company selling them for around £30 ex-factory new)... The only drawback is that the GPS is not powerful or reliable enough for SatNav purposes which is a pity as the...

Raspberry PI - The ideal e-bike computer?

Indeed, good point. I was experimenting with the idea of setting up an electronic rear view mirror a while ago and that's one of the purposes I had in mind for the Raspberry.. I also have a Nokia n810 (which looks like a smartphone but is not a smartphone) a Linux-based tablet PC with SatNav...

Raspberry PI - The ideal e-bike computer?

I posted a while ago about the Raspberry PI, a tiny credit-card sized computer designed by some clever geeks here in Britain which is now taking the world by storm.. I actually purchased one of these as soon as they were available to order to see what all the fuss is about and after waiting 3...

    Bluetooth and mobile phone question

Everyone knows using a mobile phone in a car while moving is illegal, but it's legal to have a phone conversation if you have a bluetooth earpiece isn't it? I always thought that strange, because if you're having an indepth telephone conversation and/or repeatedly taking calls, you can't be...

Bicycle Lasers to keep drivers at bay?

We were having a discussion on another thread over the last few days about motorists and their attitude towards cyclists.. Could this be the solution?! Laser beams!! Heh. This is one of the most bizarre things I've seen to go on a bike! TWO HIGHLY VISIBLE RED LASERS provide lane markers on...

    Knee injuries

flecc have you ever suffered any knee injuries in your time, and have they lingered or tended to get better with exercise?

    Knee injuries

What a pity would have liked to have seen it.. I don't watch much TV these days (no licence) but like to watch the documentaries and dramas on the playback sites when I get chance :) When I saw the doc about my knee he asked my age and pulled a face when I said 40 and more or less said, you're...

    Mezzo D9 gearing question

I think I found an ideal compact and smaller derailleur for the Mezzo: The Shimano Tourney FT30 Short Cage Rear Derailleur - Direct Mount is 6-or 7-speed rear derailleur compatible with an 11-tooth sprocket and offers SIS rear shifting. Using the smallest cage in the Shimano range this...

    Indicator lights

Heh, just found another one similar to the Spooklight which also has a bike finder and "bike alarm" built-in..and for those Knight Rider fans, there's a moving line of red LED's :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygB23EH6T7Y It doesn't seem to be available in the UK..but it's selling in the US...

    Indicator lights

After searching and searching, there's no one product that stands for a decent set of indicator lights for a bicycle! I'm astonished. The best thing I saw was the "Spooklight" wireless but it has negative reviews owing mainly to the price (£55 ouch) and secondly due to the lights being too close...

    Mezzo D9 gearing question

Alright, hands up, who owned one of these? I owned one of these as a kid (that's the American version pictured) and it was the most comfortable bike I've ever owned with the easiest gear shift..1-2-3 Sturmey Archer hub gears! If only bikes were built like that today =)

    Knee injuries

That's really interesting and supports what Geebee just said..that cycling lightly without too much strain can help the knee movement and strengthen the muscles around it.. I hadn't thought of it like that, but it makes sense.. and all the more reason to ride electric and pedal ;-) I think when...

    Knee injuries

I've actually got private medical insurance which under normal circumstances would allow me to see a private consultant but they have a 2-year "watch and see" clause which means any pre-existing illness that occurred or showed symptoms in the 2 years prior to the policy beginning aren't covered...

    Knee injuries

http://youtu.be/RdIHsF_bC-4 I just watched this video on YouTube where an experienced cyclist explains how gearing on bikes work and he mentioned that riding a bike inappropriately in the wrong gear can cause knee injuries.. I'm wondering if that's how I damaged my knee as I rode my bike very...

Next conversion: Motor and controller choice...

Thanks d8veh..I don't plan to use any LED panel and I would like to ride with throttle-only and PAS.. I'm not sure whether I can use speedict to switch between the two, or whether I can rig up some switch on the handlebar.. I know speedict has some button thing. My battery is 36v 10Ah.

Next conversion: Motor and controller choice...

Hmm sounds like quite a bit of work..but it only needs doing once I guess.. I don't have any brake cut outs on my existing bike..the kit said it's so precise it doesn't need any and the Austrian dealer who sold me when I queried him over the safety side, said you won't need it!
