Bosch Performance Line CX motor sounds like a loud milk float. Is it normal?

Hiya Phil... ta for this. Yes I have (after the event) come to realise that my wife's (AL3) motor is so quiet because it is a very quiet motor <g>. Your comparison is v helpful though because that is the same 2 motors that I am comparing. The best illustration of the difference in noise I can...

Bosch Performance Line CX motor sounds like a loud milk float. Is it normal?

    1) Is it defective? I don't know. It sounds very loud to me, but plenty of people say it is a louder motor. I've got nothing to compare it with other than my wife's bike, and hers had a different motor which I now understand is generally held to be quieter than mine. My LBS guy doesn't really...

Bosch Performance Line CX motor sounds like a loud milk float. Is it normal?

Update. Took the bike back to LBS last Friday. He tried it out and, in an inspired move, recorded the noise on his phone (dont know how he managed that while riding!). Diagnostics showed nothing of course. Then he got on to Bosch. At first they were a bit 'it is a more powerful motor, it is...

Please help to choose E-bike for 2 child trailer and unfit parents.

Pretty much anything could manage 2.5 miles with few hills, the big question is the towing thing - 30kg of kids plus say 10kg of trailer - I have no idea about towing 40kg what sort of motor you might need. There is a thread here which suggests a woosh big bear would be a good option...

    New Wisper 905 torque problem

If the wheel isnt spinning freely, theer is definitely something wrong, no question. It is most likely to be the brakes. On a new bike, it isnt accepytable - take it back to get ti fixed. You can ask themj about the noisy motor at teh same time - maybe ride anotehr wisper bike while you are...

    New Wisper 905 torque problem

Hiya... If the wheel stops fairly quickly when you spin it, yes that sounds like the brakes are rubbing. If so, that will definitely make cycling harder work. If you ride for a while without applying the brakes much, then stop and feel the brakes - are they hot? They shouldn't be. With regard...

    Bewildered!

Then I wouldn't sweat it - try them both out and pick which one you prefer! Unless you have specific requirements that can only be met by certain bikes and not by others, it is really down to how you feel about a bike. I'd only consider a different bike if it turns out you dont feel right on...

    Bewildered!

Why are the 2 bikes you mention your current top picks? If you can write down the reasons you've zoomed in on those two, you've probably got there a list of the criteria that are important to you. For the cycling that you want to do, pretty much any ebike is going to do - you don't need a long...

    Please help, which one?

As well as the factors already mentioned, looking at the 3 bikes you have picked, they vary on whether or not they have: 1) Mudguards 2) Rack 3) Integrated battery 4) Choice of colours 5) Straight or comfort handlebars 6) Control display unit Most of these are a question of taste/what you want...

    Puncture repair kits

I'm a big fan of Schwalbe Marathon tyres, great puncture resistance, but even with those I get punctures at hawthorn hedge cutting time if the weather is dry. No other time though.

    Tingling hands

Ah, right, that sounds perfect. My current stem is quite short so I can easily lengthen it if needs be, but I'll try the Marys without and see how I get on. Good to hear that you handdlebar box still fits and works, I tried a bar bag on my last bike, but it had drops and the bag fouled the...

    Tingling hands

Hiya... Ta for this, helpful. I'm thinking Marys without bar ends will probably be better than straight bars with bar ends. Did you have to fit a longer stem to make up for the back sweep shortening your reach? Ta v much Cheers, John

    Tingling hands

Very interesting. Yes my hands fall into a 45 degree position when I do that. Will bar ends still work if I change to a 45 degree swept back bar? Cheers, John

    Tingling hands

peter - ta. I put a Ritchie stem like that on my wife's old bike, so I may nick it and try it out. Will check the on one range rather than just the Marys. ... have just checked, it looks like these are the on-one Geoffs. 45 degree backsweep. 720 wide, which may be a bit too wide for me. Cheers...

    Tingling hands

Well, I've had this pair of gloves for several years now, and never had the problem on my last bike, so it seems a bit unlikely. Easy to try out though! Cheers, John

    Tingling hands

Yes, I know it is important to have your elbows bent a bit, and it feels weird if you don't

    Tingling hands

Marcus - thanks. Yes I have been experimenting with the angle of flat part of the grips. By the time my hands sit flat level with my arm, the flat part of the grip is rotated so far towards the vertical that my hands feel like they are going to slide off the bars! Cheers, John
