    Cube Acid 400 chainring upgrade

Update today - commute showed no improvement in time although I could feel my legs working harder (tick!) but as it was peeing it down and I've been off work for 2 weeks maybe that's not a bad thing.. I was certainly using more gears than normal and wasn't spinning out the pedals; I just think...

    Cube Acid 400 chainring upgrade

Out at my brother in laws today so no cycling. Will be commuting tomorrow so a straight back to back compare will be doable. Stuck a x11 chain on to cater for the increase in size - 114 to 118. The rear mech looks a lot happier but it seems that chains have moved on - no longer do you push a...

    Cube Acid 400 chainring upgrade

Yah. Only coz I don’t have any longer chainring bolts.. it will do for a trial but it’s pissing it down today!

    Cube Acid 400 chainring upgrade

New sprocket mounted on the outside of the old spider. Might need a longer chain ;-) You can get a rizla paper between the sprocket and the frame... A quick spin out round the village and it felt about 4-5km faster and a gear maybe two higher for a given cadence. Will try my commute tomorrow...

    Cube Acid 400 chainring upgrade

Yeah, even my 2nd spider is the wrong size. Out with the screwdriver and hammer.. Anyone want a cheap spider that doesn’t fit a Gen3 ALP?

Cube MTB - 27.5 or 29 for touring?

Meh - I *think* that you are in the "nice problem to have" category. Personally, I love my 29er on the road and use it for commuting pretty much daily so I'm probably a bit biased.

    Cube Acid 400 chainring upgrade

Yeah, imagine how happy I was when it turned up and didn't fit. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07CRB4X98/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 is not the spider you are looking for..... What I am trying is I've bought some longer chainring bolts and will space out the chainring...

    Cube Acid 400 chainring upgrade

It’s in progress. It turns out that there are two sizes of Bosch spider locknuts and I bought the wrong one!!

Optimal cadance Bosch Active Line Plus

..other than getting a dedicated sensor is there any way to tap into the Bosch unit to get the cadence data?

Bosch Active Line Plus vs Bosch Performance Line CX

I had a Cytronex for a long time before my cube and I tend to agree; the hub motor kicked in pretty much immediately compared to the ALP making the "traffic light dash" slightly easier on the Cytronex.

    Cube Acid 400 chainring upgrade

Just a heads-up for anyone who's following. I ordered a new 46t sprocket from VeloSolo without checking the clearances and its too big to fit in the same position as the current sprocket. Will try to fit it "in reverse" (aka rather than behind the spider, in front of the spider) as it looks...

Electric Bike for a larger guy

About 4-5 inches taller and at least 2 1/2 stone heavier and my cube acid hybrid hasn’t let me down.. Just find a bike that you feel comfortable on and the rest will be easy. You are in no way too big or heavy for pretty much any of the mainstream bikes out there...

    Cube Acid 400 chainring upgrade

;-) Big bike + big rider means gravity is your friend (at least going down hill...) I'm averaging around 26km on the whole journey and can keep it around that pace on the flats/gentle gradients with no problem. I've not got the strength or conditioning to pull off the bottom sprocket on...

    Cube Acid 400 chainring upgrade

Just a quick sanity check before I click the order button! I've a Cube Acid 400 that I use on trails and on my commute. Commute is relatively flat, maybe 100m elevation change over a 6km route. I'm finding that with the default 38t and 11-34 that I'm constantly on the bottom 3 sprockets and I'm...

    Question for Commuters

Take 5 shirts into a local dry cleaners and leave them in the office... Leave a pair of trousers on a hanger on a coat-stand. The easiest way is to have a change of clothes in the office and not to carry them ;-) I'm lucky in my current gig where I can rock up in jeans and a t-shirt so isnt...

    29x2.2 low rolling resistance tyres

All - now that I am commuting mainly on the road its probably time to move from the stock Schwalbe to something a little more road-friendly.. Any reccomendations for a low rolling resistance but yet still puncture resistant 29" tyre? Looks like the Conti Speed/Race kings seem to be well...

    Battery charging

Cube 400w user here. I charge a couple of times a week to keep topped off but have the charger on a timer plug so that it does *actually* shut off. You will quickly figure out what the “normal” time to charge would be..
