    Wisper 905 rear wheel/rim.

Also, check to ensure that all the spoke threads are completely in the nipples before starting the truing process. You should be able to tighten individual spokes by hand and check this by rubbing a thumbnail across the spoke and nipple, before moving onto a spoke key. Take it slow, as others...

    Wisper 905 rear wheel/rim.

Can you mount the motor in a new wheel rim - a full wheel build isn’t going to cost more than £100 with all the parts, rim, spokes, nipples - probably less than that.

    I think I have a Q100H and a Q85 available - depending on axle width requirements.

Help! Newbie needs advice on bike choice please

If you are travelling anywhere near north Lincolnshire, I am just about to start a hub conversion on a Crossfire. You are welcome to take a look.

    Yosepower hub kits.

Duty- free in the EU. In 4 weeks, the UK will be out of the EU. I am assuming things will stay the same for a while, until the UK gts a grip on hat it wants to do with import duty from EU.

Best e-bike for smallish woman exploring hilly countryside? Leaning towards Boardman HYB 8.9E

The Hyb is a great bike and the Specialized looks good as well. I would say that if you start by selecting a bike you would like to ride even without a motor, then the only way is up! Go try the bikes you mention, that may give you a better idea as to what you want/need.

    magnetic disc problem

A hole saw might work, but you will need to hold the disc very firmly - screw it into a block of wood before drilling. I use a Dremel and sand out the hole. Takes about ten minutes.

    magnetic disc problem

I usually enlarge the hole in the centre of the disc until it sits nicely on the inner chainring. Sometimes the disc stays magnetised to the chainring, but I usually epoxy it in place. You can then fully tighten the crank onto the axle without the disc binding on the sensor. Longer axles...

Average shipping cost from China to UK?

If you order the parts, duty will be around 3.2-3.5%, and don’t forget you will need to pay 20% VAT on the cost of parts, duty payable and shipping costs. Shipping costs can vary considerably, depending on the carrier. You may be able to get the carrier to quote CIF, otherwise the goods are...

    Batavus Lento

You’ll need to strip your red and black cables and use a male and female bullet connector (male on the black cable and female on the red cable. They come in different sizes and are colour coded; red, yellow, blue, etc. I have the blue ones, which work for 14awg silicone cable. You can get them...

    Help! PAS does not work

I am curious. I dug out some magnet discs with the arrows indicating rotation. The surface area of the magnets is larger on one side of the disc than the other (per nealh comment above). Aside from making sure the magnets are facing the sensor, why the arrows? Surely if the magnets are...

What ebike conversions have you got in the pipe line for 2020 ?

Sounds good. I think I should take a look at a mid-drive package. I have a Carrera Subway and a Crossfire in prep for conversion. I have ordered a few Q75s to look at some folding bike options. I am also on the lookout for a road/gravel frameset for a ‘stealth conversion’ so I can keep up...

    Help! PAS does not work

Just looked at the picture - is that disc the right way around? My eyes may be playing tricks but it looks like the magnets are facing outwards and not towards the sensor.

    Help! PAS does not work

Are you sure the magnet disc is spinning when you pedal? If it is loose on the axle, it might be getting stuck when you pedal and therefore won’t be sending any pulse to the controller.

    newbie help needed

I have been working on a Carrera Vengeance and a Carrera Vulcan over the past month - both are fairly solid bikes, and fitted with a rear hub motor with 36v/10ah battery should have the range you need. A quality ebike kit shouldn’t cost more than £200 and then another £200-ish for the battery...

Thinking of converting my commuting bike - questions and advice

I have a rear hub motor, controller, crank mounted PAS and handlebar display on my set ups. Simple and straightforward to fit. The display can be used to set bike-specific parameters and limit speed. I use 36v batteries, either a 6.8ah or 10.4ah - which are good for 20-30 miles, depending on...

    Brompton Cute Q70 question

I am going to try and build a ‘Brompton Kit’ in the next few weeks. I think you need the Q70 front wheel motor as a starting point, as the fork widths on my folders are <80mm. I’ll report back with pics once The Project is complete.
