    Bafang 250W amazing range

I understand where you're coming from. I acknowledge of course that the more efficiently you pedal, the less work there is for the motor to do, so the less battery it uses. If you're pedalling in the wrong gear, you're going to find it difficult, the motor will end up working harder, using...

    Bafang 250W amazing range

I'm not sure how I have confused you. Please read my post again (all of it, if it helps) and then I can clarify any bits you take issue with.

    Bafang 250W amazing range

If yours is a hub motor, it will be unaffected by what gear you choose - it's connected directly to the wheel, after any gears. The gears are for your legs, so you should choose whatever gear is most comfortable for you at any given point in your journey. Of course, the battery consumption of...

So you didn't try the 36V motor with the 48V battery?

Front or rear wheel conversion for hilly region

Sorry, I was too lazy to Google your Tern Joe - I didn't realise it was a folder....

Front or rear wheel conversion for hilly region

Neither - I would have thought a mid-drive conversion would be better. That way, the motor can benefit from you selecting a lower gear for the steep hills. Hub motors drive the wheel directly, so are unaffected by whatever gear you are in.

    Yosepower hub kits.

I learn mainly from the excellent information people like you provide on this forum. I hope you realise what a great contribution you and others make to educating people about eBikes. I imagine that for every person like me who posts occasionally, there are tens or hundreds who never post but...

    Yosepower hub kits.

Ok, here are the results, with the speed limit set to 72kph: Battery fully-charged (LCD3 reads 39.5V): No-load speed over 17mph Battery pretty empty (LCD3 reads 35.5V): No-load speed 15.0 mph So that's clear, isn't it? The back EMF of the motor is what's limiting the speed, and there's...

    Yosepower hub kits.

Thanks, I'll do that test this weekend probably. Yes, etched into the side flange is CZJB-26"36V250W180479211N. Does that mean anything to you?

    Yosepower hub kits.

I've been playing about with my Yose 250W 36V Front Hub (I bought the 26" kit) because the bike didn't seem as fast at top speed as it should be, when riding with someone else on their ebike. Using GPS, I discovered that the LCD3 readout had been wrong (15mph readout was actually 13mph...

    8 to 12 magnet PAS

Interesting, thanks. Unfortunately a PAS sensor needs to be a "dual" device so that it can sense whether the chainring is going forwards or backwards.

    8 to 12 magnet PAS

The two Raleigh Arrays in my family have a PAS sensor that directly senses the teeth on the front chainring. So about 42 "magnets". These bikes are a real pleasure to ride; presumably the PAS arrangement helps with the fast and smooth pickup. I'd really like to find a source for those...

Raleigh Array Step Thru Electric Urban Bike or Forme Cromford 2 ELS 2019 Electric Bike?

My family has a couple of Raleigh Arrays. They seem really well sorted (neat, smooth, and surprisingly torquey) and I can recommend them without hesitation.

nexus 7 versus nexus 8 versus derailleur

I have recently fitted a front hub ebike conversion kit to my Nexus 8 bike, because I love the internal gear hub. It always seemed to me to be too low-geared before I converted it, but at a constant assisted 15mph in 8th gear, I found it really uncomfortable spinning the pedals so fast. So I...

Advice for a true 'Gentlemans' e-bike...

Before you spend £2000 on a mid-drive bike, I'd recommend test-riding a hub-motored Raleigh Array (close to £1000). You might be surprised, like I was...

Not getting along with my new Raliegh Captus eBike...

You are describing one of the big differences between hub motors and crank motors: A hub motor provides the same assistance irrespective of what gear you are in, so you can choose a gear that suits your pedaling, without affecting the motor. A crank motor provides more wheel torque the lower...

Not getting along with my new Raliegh Captus eBike...

We have two Raleigh Arrays in our family, and I have to say they really do seem to punch above their weight in terms of performance and usability. Yes, they are only 250W 25Nm (supposedly) hub motors with cadence sensing. But the whole system is so well sorted that assistance is provided much...
