    Need help with Ebike choice

Yep d8veh, what I was trying to say was that, I would be gutted, if having ordered an ebike that I assumed was a Bafang Max Drive motor type, but turned up with the Bafang 8fun kit motor on it, as obviously the two motors are worlds apart. Going of the adds and images, the Greenway ebike...

    Need help with Ebike choice

Yep, Andy88 I really do think that the Bafang Max Drive is the elephant in the room at the moment for distributors and dealers alike, I wait with bated breath to see what happens in the comming months.

    Need help with Ebike choice

It will be interesting to see if the man from Whoosh, makes a comment on this find, surely the Bafang Max Drive is right up thier street. Also this £1000 price tag kinda sets the bar, for a decent CD ebike, and gives you an idea of the sort of margins that UK dealers are making on Ebikes. I...

    Need help with Ebike choice

Yep, my main interest is the Frame Battery and Motor, not to bothered about the rest, as mentioned my main concern is that it is an actual Bafang Max Drive motor that is in there, no mention of it 90nm Torque or any of that. Also I would like me to think that anyone making a Bafang Max Drive...

    Need help with Ebike choice

Yep, Andy88 same goes for the Bafang Max Drive model, although I am somewhat concerned that the motor is not described as the Bafang Max Drive, although the image does show what can only be the Bafang Max Drive motor, I would be gutted if ordered, to find that the bike comes with the 8fun motor...

    Need help with Ebike choice

Yep Andy88, that's pretty much the one, there appears to be a couple of sellers on eBay offering them. I don't think it has been posted on here before, one of the specs mentions hydraulic brakes, although the seller states mechanical disc brakes, not a problem, even though just £1000 or so, I...

    Need help with Ebike choice

Andy88 it looks like those Bafang Max Drives Ebikes are available in the uk, not the exact same but similiar, for £1,100 which seems like a fair price when you look at the spec. I can't do the link thing, but here are the eBay listing numbers for a model called the Greenway. I am seriously...

    cobi for bosch bikes

Impressive but definatley not for me, would not wan't to use my firms iPhone, and my own phone is Nokia 113 dumb phone. And the fact that you dispense with the original ebike control panel, I just don't get it.

    Need help with Ebike choice

The Bafang Max Drive CD unit seems like it may give Bosch and Yamaha a run for there money. I seem to remember a YouTube video featuring a MTB version, being imported by an Australian dealer, think they were called Maxwell. The Max Drive has got to be better than a kit, but I guess it's early...

Thru Axle or Quick Release and Brake Types for Front Hub Drives

Hi Andy88, brakes for a Rohloff, Disc for me every time, although it makes no difference, it's all down to personal choice and the type of bike. The Disc Rotor for a Rohloff is not standard, with it being a 4 bolt affair, but are widely available. For an ebike, I would have thought Disc brakes...

Thru Axle or Quick Release and Brake Types for Front Hub Drives

Through Axel seems to be taking over from QR, especialy as road bikes are now going for Disc brakes. I must admit, I always thought the QR Axel was quite weedy, and on my none ebike, I use the QR type skewer that fasten using an Allen key, so not Quick to Release on my bike. I think for an...

Wireless Gear Shift and Brakes on eBikes?

I can see the Pinion electric motor/gearbox that soundwave posted, will be the way forward for Ebikes. As much as I love my Rohloff, the Pinion drive is a better set up than the Rohloff, especially for none Ebikes, even though it does require a specific frame, unlike the Rohloff which can be...

    Help?

No Andy88 I never got into cycle racing, I have just always liked to cycle, but now at 56 and 14st, it would be nice to get's some help up those hills! I recon a Bafang Max Drive set up with Rohloff is what I am aiming for, and should come in at a fraction of the cost of the Riese & Muller...

    Help?

Yep Andy88, back in 2004 I shipped in 3 Ti Frames all Rohloff Specific from Tilon. Tilon provide drawings which you tweak, like adding braze on's, cable guides etc. I even sent them an alloy chainset isis type from FSA, and Tilon copied it perfectly in Ti, and even machined the 110 BCD Spider...

Wireless Gear Shift and Brakes on eBikes?

Yep EmSeeDee, any IGH bee it 3 Speed, 14 Speed or CVT is better than any derailleur gear set up IMHO!

    Help?

Hi Andy88, most OEM none Ebikes that are HardTail, would use either Sliding Drop-Out's or Eccentric Bottom Bracket when an IGH is in place. I guess for full Sus, a chain tensioner is a good idea due to the swinging arm of the rear chain stays. I don't do Suspention at all for my kind of...

    Help?

I guess Croxden on a full Sus ebike a chain Tentioner could make sense, but on a hard tail, it's simply not required. As on the Riese & Muller Rohloff Charger which of course uses a Sliding Drop-Out's.

    Help?

Yep the Nuvinci 360 appears to take care of Torque via the axel nut's as it does not use a QR skewer like on the Roholoff. I would say that the Nuvinci 360 is more suited to Ebikes than the Rohloff, due to it's cvt operation, although personally I prefer the idea of having a definite gear to be...

    Help?

Nothing wrong with using a Chain Tentioner, if the Rohloff/Nuvinci 360 is a retro fit, but on an OEM bike, it has to be Sliding Drop-Out's if the job is to be done properly. An eccentric bottom bracket is not really an option on a Crank Drive ebike, although I have seen a Chain Tentioner used...
