    Help?

Oh dear, another OEM ebike with IGH using a chain Tentioner, how shoddy I have to say. How hard can it be to get a frame with Sliding Drop-Out's, I really do despair, having said that even Riese & Muller use to do the same on there £5k+ ebikes that came with IGH, thankfully they have at least...

Wireless Gear Shift and Brakes on eBikes?

Yep, would like to see that Wireless gear change available on the Rohloff, you can already get a Wired Electric changer for the Rohloff, as a third party unit. Although to be fair, most would argue, that the simplicity and low cost of cables, outstrips the benefits that electronics bring along...

Recommend me a new front light

Thanks awol, but that still looks a little bit to universal, the light I got, can dim to around 50% by hitting the button on the back of the lamp. I recon I can drill and tap a couple of 2.5mm thread's into the body of the lamp, and make a more secure fixing that way. One of the lights that I...

Recommend me a new front light

Bought a few of the type like in d8veh link, think mine were the single T6 Cree, so just 2000 lumen, although probably not true, but with around 3hrs from the 8.4 v power pack well more than bright enough. Cheap as chips compared to the big brands, you can't go wrong for around £10 from China...

News: The making of the VIT-S

That is just the kind of ebike that I would go for. Crank Drive with 95nm outstanding. Japanese motor design, which I assume will be manufactured in China etc. Good to see also that the bike has a IGH from the get go, albiet the Nuvinci 330, although I would prefer to see it with the Rohloff...

    Batteries too expensive!!

Can't do the Linky thing, but came across "e-bike vision gmbh" who are doing compatible Bosch batteries, they only seem to have older models listed, but could be interesting for future reference. Not sure how the prices compare to OEM Bosch batteries, but you would expect them to be cheaper.

Info 250w bike on the throttle only sample

Yep, it's always good to see these kind of real world tests, I am quite confident that a legal 250w motor will be more than adequate for my needs, although I will be going for a Crank Drive.

    Batteries too expensive!!

Yep soundwave, I am out of the TV scene now, but the modern day equivalent now seems to be KODI.

    Batteries too expensive!!

Yep soundwave, you are right, although Bosch will put up with a certain amount of hacking like all big corporations do. So long as they are getting the wonga from the honest folk they will turn a blind eye. I had this with Sky back in the 90's, when I used to install satellite systems into...

    Batteries too expensive!!

Yep soundwave, this is why I think that the Bafang Max Drive CD system could be a run away success if they go into the right bikes. And Bosch / Yamaha could be left scratching there heads!

    Batteries too expensive!!

Yep RobF, all this battery pricing is interesting stuff, all I can say is that it is the "Rain Man" effect.

    Batteries too expensive!!

£879 for a battery they are having a laugh. Having said that, when I used to work for a firm supplying the MOD with stuff, we used to invoice them £50 for 13amp plugs, per single unit, costing less than 50p, as they say, there is one born every minute. And don't even ask what we used to...

    Batteries too expensive!!

Will let you know if I can beat that £480 price tag, soundwave, even though a lot better than £700 that is still a ridiculous price for a battery.

    Batteries too expensive!!

Well my Son (31) will be in work tomorrow, he is a Bike Tech, and his firm is selling a good number of KTM and Haibikes using the Bosch CD drive. So I have asked him to find out what the Trade (Staff Price) is for the Bosch 500w 13.4ah 36v battery. This could be interesting as the current...

    Batteries too expensive!!

That's an interesting post marwigan, so you can simply buy a spare Bosch battery, and it's plug and play. I was starting to think, that due to the internal electronics of the Bosch battery, that it may have needed to be programmed using some dealer type software, to get it working with the...

    Batteries too expensive!!

Yep, RobF, you are probably spot on, as Ebike's are quite niche, and in the great scheme of things, so is cycling in general. Cars though are a different entity altogether, but I can't help thinking that with Tesla planning to go mainstream next year, with a fully electric car that cost's half...

    anyone missing a bosch bike

Is it possible to tell from the photo, which model Bosch motor it is, the donor bike could have been a step through or something, although it does make you wonder why the motor model is not described. And if the seller is for real, you would have thought the battery and display would also be...

    Batteries too expensive!!

Yep, I can see what is going on there from Bosch and Yamaha, although I am sure if someone put there mind to it, there could be a hack allowing the use of third party batteries. Of course if the battery needs some kind of can message data from the motor etc, to work in a way, that it can only...

    Batteries too expensive!!

I am newbie to all this ebike stuff, in fact I have yet to even own one. But I guess I am right in thinking that if you have an Ebike that runs a Bosch or Yamaha motor or battery, there are no third party batteries available. So if you require a spare battery, then you are tied to buying the...

Hub verses External gears for mid drive

Some good info there d8veh, I was quite reassured to see that Riese & Muller are including either the Rohloff IGH and or Nuvinci 360 on the Charger GX EBike which has the higher torque Bosch CX motor. Even the HS (45kmph) "S" Pedelec version of the R&M Charger is also using the Rohloff...
