    Need a new printer !

My friends have reported back to me that they got the ET-2550 at £119, so I was not far of the £110 price that I first posted. They are are happy, as the machine up until this week was £199.99. A2 and A3 (A3+) machines are fine, but they do take up a lot of space and are often single function...

    Need a new printer !

Yep for cheap A3 (A3+) printing then look no further than the Epson L-1800 (6 colour) and ET-1400 (4 colour) both use the Epson EcoTank (CISS) system and use the cheap 70ml bottles of ink, although differing ink types between the two models. Of course both of the A3 (A3+) models are single...

    Need a new printer !

Yep DC, way to go, I work from home, and have to produce printed reports and contracts etc, and was using loads of ink, as some of the reports required A4 photo prints. Back in December 2015 the firm sent me an ET-2550, according to the print out I have produced over 2000 pages, and the ink...

    Need a new printer !

Things have moved on, genuine toner carts are expensive, and of course on laser units, the photoconductor will at some point need replacing, which on consumer models can cost more than a new machine. A genuine Epson 70ml bottle of ink for the ET-2550 will produce 4,500 pages not bad for less...

    Need a new printer !

eHomer, glad that works for you, the Epson ET-2550 for info does not use ink cartridges, it is a CISS model, and has four refillable ink tanks, and comes with four 70ml bottles of ink. Of course fitting a third party CISS system to a new printer of any make of printer would in fact void the...

Just had the heads up on a Black Friday deal, for the Epson ET-2550 which should work out at around £110 on the day from Currys.

A new hub to beat Rohloff?

Rohloff distribute through ison distribution here in the UK, although Thorn aka SJ Cycles of Bridgewater have a direct account with Rohloff for there OEM Bikes. Back in 2004 when I got my Rohloff prices were just £500 although 5 of us bought at the same time from the same Manchester bike shop...

A new hub to beat Rohloff?

That looks nice especialy the hydraulic shifting, is for 12mm axle though, or is that just another option, with QR also available? Price is in line with Rohloff, which will make for some long awaited competion for Rohloff. I have been running my Rohloff since 2004, having done a few cycle...

250 watt is it a myth?

Thanks for finding that d8veh, slightly different frame to the one in Andy88's image but not far of. That is quite a good response that Andy88 got from BB, and it certainley looks like the Chinese are upping there game, for the European market, this can only be good news. I am sure that there...

250 watt is it a myth?

Thanks again Andy88, I had a look online at the Freego Bafang Max Drive and also the Bottecchia versions, but they were based on a reg MTB top bar frame. It will be interesting to see what Brighton Bikes come back to you with, as I guess the model in the image is from the same factory as the...

250 watt is it a myth?

Hi Andy88. That Bafang Max Drive bike image you posted from Brighton Ebikes, I could not find it on there website, although I may have gone to the wrong website. I do like the fact that it is a step-through and has a IGH, do you know the brand of the bike, the only similiar...

250 watt is it a myth?

Thanks D8ve, I kinda did not get that a cross very well, I was sort of comparing to the likes of Bosch and Yamaha, with the Bafang Max Drive being more of an OEM type unit, unlike the Bafang 8fun CD drives, which all though are very good, are a bit of a lash up in comparison to a CD motor that...

250 watt is it a myth?

Thanks for that comment Andy88, my problem is that I have never liked derailleur gears, always having preferred IGH even as an 8 year old kid back in 1968 the bike I had was a 20" Wheel Moulton with a 3 Speed Sturmy archer IGH maybe that was were the seed was sown. To my mind derailure gears on...

250 watt is it a myth?

Hi Andy88. The Shimano Hubs are known to be rather fragile, although the later 11 speed in carnations have been beefed up somewhat. I have already ruined a SRAM Spectro P7 from pedal power alone, as I made the gearing below the recommended minimum, although my current hack...

250 watt is it a myth?

Wow, did not know that Bafang did CD motors for OEM Ebikes, I sure do like the look of the Max Drive, this could be plan B for me, I would of course ditch the derailleur gears, and fit either a Nuvinci or Rohloff IGH instead.

    Bafang 8fun CD 36v or 48v ?

Thanks for all the contributions to this post, thus far, loads of info for a newbie like me to digest, but all good stuff. I notice Eclipse now have the Bafang 8fun 250w CD as back in stock, buying from a UK supplier would certainley simplify thing's, and of course ordering from China can run...

    Bafang 8fun CD 36v or 48v ?

I could be wrong, but is the 750w unit not physically larger than the 500w model, and also 48v not 36v, not that either makes a difference, but just a point. The 500w appeals to me, and of course better battery run time, than the 750w model I would argue. Either way as you say, the gallows await!

Well done Johnny, which kit are you going for?

    Bafang 8fun CD 36v or 48v ?

Thanks Trex, the 500w model does interest me, although not UK street legal, which does put a downer on the whole event! But let's not open that can of worms up again.
