    decisions decisions...

The Bosch CX motor would be my choice, but forget Derailure gears, they are so last century IGH all the way for me. It is just a pity that they do not yet make an ebike with embedded gearbox into the motor, no doubt it will one day come, incorporating the Pinion gear system maybe. Back in the...

ISO standard body looks at speed for upcoming ISO/CD 4210-10

Surely in two years time, the U.K. Can do it's own thing, and maybe adopt the same ebike rules as the U.S.A. with upto 750watt motor and 20mph Speed cut off, now I would vote for that. One of the reasons when I have not bought an ebike as yet is due to the nanny state regulations that are in...

    21-70 battery cell

The 18650 Panasonic type Lithium ion battery cell is of course the industry standard, but now that Tesla with Panasonic and no doubt Samsung are to produce 21-70 cells in there millions, could this also see Ebike battery prices coming down by around 30% as predicted will be the case for EV's. I...

    Rohloff/gearbox question/s!

Got the Frame and Forks from X'CND aka Tilon in X'ian China, they built my a Rohloff Frame with Rohloff OEM Sliding Drop Outs, and another with a Bushnell EBB, of the two I preferred the Sliding Drop Out design. The bike is more MTB Hybrid style, running 1.3" Tyre's, so great for on road and...

    Rohloff/gearbox question/s!

Yep I agree with the OP, why are they not making Mid Drive Ebikes with embedded gearbox. I got my Rohloff bike back in 2004 and I am on the cusp of ordering a Bafang 8fun 500w Mid Drive to make it into an ebike. The upgrade will cost about £900 all up, for motor kit c/w 15ah 36v battery, so I...

    BBS02 on a cargo bike.

Yep I wonder were the law stands, if using a BBS02 that is a 500w but electronically restricted to 250w. As in effect it becomes a 250w machine, which is legal, and the markings on the motor case confirm the fact. Of course in the real world, it would be set to 500w, but who is to know, so...

    BBS02 on a cargo bike.

Have a look at the BBS02 motors that Em3v supply, they don't do the 250w model but start at the 500w model which is marked on the motor case as 250w. You can of course de-tune yourself using the programme lead, along with other adjustments.

Powering LED Headlight from the Controller

Outstanding d8veh and IR772, well having been out of the game for 20 years, I can definitely see that electronics have moved on a bit lol! Superb solution to the OP's question, well done to the both of you.

Powering LED Headlight from the Controller

Going back to my college days, when doing C&G Electronics 2240, which was about 20 years ago, but from memory something like a Zenner Diode should do the job, if you can find one that is rated 7v, being DC it should be quite simple to to.

    BBS02 500w versus BBS01 350w

Yep D8ve, I am glad you think the same, as I thought it was just me, I don't intend doing 30mph, I just need a little assistance to getting up the odd hill, and it would be nice to pootle along the flat at around 20mph now and again. Of course there is also the Throttle issue, but I guess if...

    BBS02 500w versus BBS01 350w

Well unless I am missing something, the BBS02 motors that are marked/badged and or stamped on the case as 250w and as long as you have that in the settings and not 350w or 500w and speed is set to 15.5mph Max, then you are street legal. The motor is obviously designed to cater for different...

    BBS02 500w versus BBS01 350w

Yep, it seems the motors are marked/badged or stamped as you put it as 250w it could be worth me asking the seller to send an image, as they also mentioned that some of the exact same model motor are marked/badged 500w and you are to state when ordering that you require the 250w marked/badged model.

    BBS02 500w versus BBS01 350w

Slightly of topic, but I noticed that you can get the BBS02 (36v) badged/marked as 250w although within the settings it can be configured as 250w, 350w or 500w. Does this mean that the motor is UK street legal if set to 250w, or is it the case as I understand it, that because it obviously must...

    Gsm vs bbs01

Well this section of the forum has really got me thinking, I was ready to buy an of the shelf Cube CD ebike for just under £2k. But as my Son (30) is a bike mechanic, and we have a workshop full of frames and parts etc, a kit project seems the way to go. The GSM motor, seems a good choice, I...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Yep, I moved from Shimano SPD, to the Frogs back in 2004, and have never looked back since. The Cleat is in Shoe, not the Pedal, but what I like most about the Frog's is that the Float is almost total, so you have no feeling of being clipped in even though you are. It's kind of hard to...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Interesting that you mention pedals, I was not sure if Clipless was the way to go for when I get an ebike, although I can't think of any reason for not using them. For the last 11 years I have been using SpeedPlay Frog (Stainless) pedals, on my none ebike, so I think my spare set of Frog's may...

Is a removable display a must? Which models have them?

Hi RobF, the bike in your link I noticed a week or so ago, the bike description brings up another model, which is odd, the model as stated in the link is fitted with the Bosch CX 75nm Motor, so I would imagine the price will change when 2016 stock becomes availalble. I am thinking the price...

    NEC show

Thanks trex, but that's not quite what I had in mind. Is the £1,233 price tag, not just for the Frame!, had my current Rohloff SpeedHub specific custom made Titanium Frame made in Xian Provence China for £350! in fact they also made my Ti Forks and Ti ISIS CrankSet for peanuts, that was back in...

Yep, anotherkiwi, I think my Rohloff SpeedHub Bosch CX 75nm Crank Drive Ebike, will work out a little cheaper than the Heisenberg, even though mine will be just a HardTail bike.

    NEC show

Change of mind again, following reading some websites regarding retro fitting a Rohloff SpeedHub to a Crank Drive Ebike. Also, I have been out on the Rohloff bike today, 8 miles of trail, and 8 miles of road, 16 miles of heaven, apart from the 2 miles of steep bits! It seems quite doable, so...
