    Motor rpm

So is there an optimal speed to ride up hills to increase battery range?

Is a 28 mile round commute too far?

That's exactly the point I was trying to make in my earlier post. I can go 12-13miles at 20+ mph without pedalling at all on my Ezee.

    Alternative battery charger

Hiya all. The charger i have with my 48v battery has a built in fan to keep it cool. The problem is that it doesn't allow for stealthy charging at work as its really noisy. Is there an alternative available without a built in fan? The spec of the battery are as follows 48V Capacity...

Is a 28 mile round commute too far?

Tbh I wouldn't derestrict it. 15mph is plenty for a new cyclist and will increase the range dramatically. I have been cycling for 30+ years and derestricted is quite an experience and took my breath away lol

Is a 28 mile round commute too far?

I have just fitted an ezee conversion to my bike (last weekend)and would highly recommend it. Derestricting it is easy. With my brief experience with the battery range, as long as you were able to recharge at work it would be no problem. With a full charge I can get 12-13 miles on full power...

    What's your average speed ?

I would normally average 14-15mph without assistance but since my conversion it's nearer 20mph. But then again it's still all new to me and I am very throttle happy ;) I'm sure over time it will drop to nearer my unassisted level as battery range will become more important as I ride further.

    Advice needed on lock :)

I agree the cable is merely a visual deterrent. The U lock is where it's at! But if someone wants you bike badly enough they will try anything. I'm also into motorcycles and was shocked when I saw this. Some of these locks are seriously heavy duty and cost £100's but were broken in seconds

    Battery range

I get what your saying here. I did a comparison on https://www.ebikes.ca/tools/simulator.html swapping a 40v10 for a 36v14 to see the difference. The 36 has much more range esp at the higher assistance levels.

    Battery range

So how can you actually tell how much charge you have remaining in your battery? Could you use a multimeter? What settings would you use? I just went for a full power blast along the seafront to see what occurring with the battery. I did 6miles flat out and it went onto red. I can't help but...

    Battery range

Yep it was. I charged it out of the box, rode it, charged and rode it. So I'm currently charging for the 3rd time ready for this afternoon (after I have laid my shed base :()

    Battery range

Interesting stuff guys, especially as this all new to me. I must admit I noticed the same as you mention. Once I had 1 amber left it took a hell of a blast at full power to get to a red light. My battery isn't an Ezee tho. Also noticed that once it dropped to 2 ambers after the climb it jumped...

    Battery range

The thing is that the battery is brand new. I think I need to do a 15mph flat road test. I recon that would be assist level 3 on this set up and also a good excuse to go for a long ride ;)

    Battery range

Thanks, that's really interesting. When you say it should do 30-35miles on the flat, is that flat out or at what sort of assistance level. I just looked up the elevation and I climbed 133metres over about 2 miles

    Battery range

Hiya all. I went out for my first proper ride today on my converted bike and I was wondering if my battery usage is normal. I have an Ezee conversion kit (unrestricted) and a 48v 10.4ah battery (battery from eBay). Battery was fully charged. I planned a route of 12 miles and as I live a stones...

Yeah the 113 was from Halfords. I will take it back and swap for a 118 and see how that works. The chain wheel is currently a 36 or 38 (can't remember exactly) which is perfect for the Nexus 8sp hub.
