    Quoted v actual range

The bike is rideable without assistance from the motor, there's seems to be very little drag, and the bike is quite light (for an ebike) so l should be fine to carry on when the battery is exhausted. So this time l am going to go for maximum speed and see what happens, and l will report back!

Thank you also for the posts re battery range, l will let you know how far l get on the 18 mile route!

    Quoted v actual range

lt's the newer version. To be honest l expected the same, but am amazed by how good the ride is on 16" wheels. l did have the shop fit some slightly larger tyres with more tread, but l could happily ride this bike 20-30 miles. The steering is a bit more twitchy compared to my regular bike, but...

    Swytch failed after first ride.

Sounds good. The O/P never updated their post so hopefully they got their bike sorted.

    Quoted v actual range

So l've just bought a Mirider 1 which a pretty standard rear hub drive folding ebike. The quoted range is 30-40 miles although l admit this is "using power level one" presumably on flat roads. Being a regular MTB rider l've ridden the Mirider pretty much to the limit of its speed all the...

    my hub drive problems

1500 watts, good grief that's not an ebike it's an electric motorcycle Not surprising it's pulled the wheel out of the drop outs as the motor is probably six times the designed power limit of the bike.

DVSA prosecutes UK company illegally supplying unrestricted e-(motor)bikes

l've seen these "ebikes" out on the road and they are lethal, but also almost impossible to catch. So unlikely to get done for riding one. They are almost always ridden badly, the wrong way up one way streets, through red lights, wrong side of the road, high speeds through parks etc We seem to...

    Review MiRider One

l've got the Mirider and it works well, but l would say it would be pointless trying to derestrict it as the single gear spins out at about 18mph. The assistance fades out at around 16.5mph. The bike rides well, it's for my wife but l rode it home from the shop. l also took it off road which...

    Whirlwind folding Ebike

Well, l've gone for the Mirider because it's actually for my wife, who tried it and liked it. I rode it home today and am impressed with it, it's not got any gears but has a "boost" button on the right handlebar which engages the maximum assist, and it seems to work best in assist level 3 (from...

    Pedelec Law - The Details

Sorry l meant the tyres are 2.8 inches wide! They are the "plus size" tyres which seemed to be popular a couple of years ago. The wheels are 27 1/2"

From "the Lockpicking Lawyer" - Locksmith Says My Videos Are BS... Loses $75

Wow that's impressive speed, shows that "secure" locks are no match for the professional! l've been using a solid looking motorcycle lock to secure my ebike and l bet it's no better than that one. ls that tool you are using readily available and does it take special training to use it? A bit...

Cyclotrotricity crank drive beast, any reviews?

The specification is all branded kit but bottom of the range, Although it's got hydraulic disc brakes and a second-from-bottom of the range Shimano Altus transmission. The Suntour XCT fork is acceptable, it's an air fork so better than a basic spring one, likewise the shock. TBH it looks...

"JUST BUY A NEW ONE" - Raleigh ebike website advertises itself as a shitty, unrepairable brand.

Then what should l buy instead, is the Bosch motor serviceable? l am stuck with it anyway because l would get nowhere near what l paid for the bike if l sell it, then l wouldn't be able to afford another. (The bike was bought with an inheritance of £5,000 that l received from my dad)

"JUST BUY A NEW ONE" - Raleigh ebike website advertises itself as a shitty, unrepairable brand.

I've got a Shimano battery and motor on my Ebike. So far the motor has been fine but l've had a new battery under warranty. It seems that the Shimano E8000 motor is not repairable so if it fails outside of the warranty l will be faced with a bill of close to £1,000 for a replacement. As the...

    Pedelec Law - The Details

Well, l only use the lower assistance mode so to keep the mountain bike with its 2.8" off road tyres at those speeds takes about the same effort as riding my road bike which isn't an ebike.

My E-mountain bike thinks it's in the USA. That gives it an extra 4mph which makes all the difference and turns it into a viable road bike (on private roads of course)

    Pedelec Law - The Details

I was out on my Ebike yesterday and a bike went the other way, the guy had clearly fitted a small petrol engine in the frame, it was doing about 15mph but making a right racket, l wouldn't have wanted to be any nearer! Respect for his ingenuity but l think he needs to fit a silencer

    Pedelec Law - The Details

The bikes are cheap, readily available and legal to buy, the only thing the seller has to do is state that they are only for use on private land. So it's not surprising they are everywhere l guess. Personally l like to feel like l've actually done a bike ride when l get home, so l wouldn't...
