The Long Settle Loop, North Yorkshire

 Lucky you didn't say the temperature in Celsius... Tomorrow I am going to have to dress warm it is only going to be 20°, yes C not F. I can see why off road bikes with knobby tyres are so popular in that area. I am thinking two wheel sets: one slick road set to get to riding area and a...

    Ebike catches fire....

Yes water is fine on a lithium battery. No water is not fine on a connected charger. Immersion in salt water is the recommended way to fully discharge and neutralise LiPo batteries I am guessing that it may be more complicated with Li-ion which are in metal cans.

A slightly different question about tyres

I am guessing your rim is either 19C or 21C so tyres from 35 to 62 mm will fit

converting carrera kraken..back wheel came off :-|

Not legal, not fitted. I sold all mine to a forum member. Not useful on old bike or new because of superior PAS. I would like to build one of these however: Full twist throttle, 1000W motor and enough lipo to do say 50 km at around 45 km/h. Blonde or brunette, haven't decided that bit yet...

    POLINI EP-3 MOTOR FOR E-BIKE

I hope the Chinese copy the handle bar buttons! They are perfection. And more/just as important than the spindle lengths is the choice of spider including a double chainwheel version. Now if a couple of well known Chinese motor makers that have standard BB mounting versions would just take...

Control units: Square wave or sine wave

I read that and so I only have sine wave controllers. The Mxus one is a little noisy the one I have now is dead silent except for loud regular "clack" noises when drawing full amps. At first I thought it was a pedal problem but no, just very loud noises coming from the controller box that have a...

    Number Two

The last time that river flooded it was on the 8 o'clock news, several villages were badly hit. Thunderstorms on mountains after hot sunny periods = flash floods. Today it was >30°C Yes. Probably a wee bit lower Wh average with a hub but that is down to my riding style.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

For trade to work you need trust. I can see "Can't trust the English" becoming a popular phrase which only seems right after all those years of you lot not trusting the Germans, the French, the Italians...

    Xiongda Motor?

If the motor has 250 W stamped or cast on it it is 250 W it doesn't matter how many Watts you actually draw. Your legal limit is that the motor must stop assisting at 25 km/h. 48 V is the best performance option it is also the maximum legal limit for voltage (nominative you will be over 54 V hot...

But then there are those hills... I think during a normal ride when I am really needing the...

    Number Two

A what if? ride So my 20Ah battery was all charged up to 41.5 V time to try something new. I did my usual station run but left the assistance set to 5 all the way and tried not to pedal too hard. Kept the right cadence of about 70 and used the gears properly. Result 8.5 Wh per kilometer. Cool...

How has your e-bike changed your commute?

A 14 km each way (leisure) commute to the metro station which includes a 3.8 km climb on the way there and a shorter steeper climb on the way back. I do this about 2 or 3 times a week on average from November to March now but previously all year round. Most of the 3200 km between June 2015 and...
