News: Tern launches Vizy radial rear light

And there are dozens of these on bangood that draw "laser" lines on either side of the bike for half the price.

    Guest Bike Conversion

I was thinking that he would mount the brake lever and drop the gear changer completely. In my 3200 km I never missed changing gears on the chainring.

    Rohloff/gearbox question/s!

If I was living and working in a city with lots of stop/start riding I can see the advantage of being able to change down when stopped. And not getting the rear mech tangled up when parked in a stack of other bikes. A folder with a Nexus 8 Inter would probably be my bike/gearbox of choice in...

How far can I go on a charge with motor X? Can I remove speed limit from motor Y? Busy times ahead indeed! :)

    Number Two

This one is so different from the other two controllers I have. The ramping up and down of the current is so smooth. The initial supply of power is strong but once at speed very gradual. It also seems to go beyond the current limit, I think this is due to the C14 setting of 3 "Stronger assist...

    Number Two

Gearbox update: The owner of the LBC said my little slope that I couldn't climb is over 20%! In any case I now have an 11-32 cassette I know, doesn't exist, you didn't think I was going to mount the 12 and give up on my cheap downhill thrills did you? So I went out and tested...

how to blow up lipo batts

Oh come on! Use your shotgun, an axe anything that an ordinary lipo is exposed to daily like in all the other utube videos. I don't know I usually hit mine with a hammer before charging... Don't forget to wear your full body armour... :p Just plug the red and black wires directly...

I think they still make frames in Spain or maybe Orbea has them in from Portugal, I think they are players in the Portuguese bike valley initiative.

Do I need a new battery soon?

That is a very healthy battery, you aren't near half way through, most of the energy in a 36 V battery is at 36 V. My 10.4 Amp bottle battery only charges to 41.5 after just over a year. The hills around here are very hard on it. I can still eek about 60 km (37 miles) from it.

    Sand

I ride through sand regularly (I live by the beach) my inner engineer tells me to leave the bike alone. This one hasn't been washed yet and is covered in dust since last Monday. That brings out my inner EddiePJ :)

Do I need a new battery soon?

I don't trust the LCD battery meter. Some LCDs have a "smart" mode where it tries to guess how much you have left. Like people machines are not very good at guessing some times... If you can wire a Watt meter between the battery and the controller it will give much better indication of the...

    Rohloff/gearbox question/s!

http://pinion.eu/en/c-line/ These guys used to design gearboxes for BMW I think. Yes it needs a special frame... My interest is mounting one on a recumbent trike, there is a German company that provides them mounted to a boom adapted to several brands of trike.

    Rohloff/gearbox question/s!

I'd like to try the pinion 9 speed XR on a hub motor bike. A gear box thought out for e-bikes and their need for wider jumps between gears. Another thing I am looking at is the SRAM Dual drive which solves the four levers problem replacing them with one. But I have had such bad experiences with...

    Guest Bike Conversion

Slower start, just over a quarter of a turn, say 1/3. The 12 magnet disk is just under a quarter turn from my experience. That will also depend on your controller set up of course.

What are the major factors that persuaded you to get an electric bike?

Bus timetable not adapted to my lifestyle. Not enough money for a car I ride like a maniac on two wheels so it is safer (still ride like a maniac but slower) Parks in the stairwell of my apartment building Can take it on the train I can do all maintenance myself (I built it) Can go places cars...
