    Brexit, for once some facts.

What the EU got wrong about fishing: As I have said the EU has gotten some things wrong and one that bugs me and which is in relation to the fishing thing is "modernising" the European fleet. Basically they subsidised the destruction of small traditional wooden fishing boats. This had for...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Fishing quotas have never been unfair. They may catch hundreds of thousands of tonnes more then throw what isn't "à la mode" (read: with a decent price on the market) over the side, dead... What he (whatshisname) is holding up is a salmon (notice the resemblance, especially the intelligence in...

Motor: Crank Drive or Front Hub (because of Nexus preference)?

That was once almost true. The Alfine 11 speed has never been recommended with a crank drive. There is now a "premium" version of the nexus 8 inter which uses much of the internals of the Alfine 8. And to make things even more confusing for the buyer there is even a new disk brake version which...

    Charge to 80% or 100% ?

You have confirmed my suspicions. Using LiPo on a bike drawing 15 Amps will be similar to your low drain usage. If you are hotrodding and generally drawing high Amps they won't last as long. In any case I ride, recharge to storage voltage when I get home and top up to 4.15 V per cell the...

Motor: Crank Drive or Front Hub (because of Nexus preference)?

 My best friend in NZ still drives his 1967 Holden with 3 speed racing box! I learnt to double de-clutch in that. I drove my 1955 VW Beetle for a couple of weeks without the clutch. After I found where the clutch wire was "broken" I never used it when the car was moving. That was a gear...

    Does it charge whist pedaling

OMG...:eek:o_O I don't understand why they didn't just use a 1 kW direct drive "generator" in the rear. I mean while you are dragging around all that extra weight you might as well get real leg muscles with an extra 4 kg or so...

Looking for a quiet 63v charger - ideas?

I would go for the Turnigy Reaktor 300W 20A AC/DC charger and a parallel charging board. Of course if you aren't using XT30's or another sensible plug it can be a pain unplugging and re-plugging the packs. I can practically guarantee you that using a 20 A charger to charge 4 Ah packs it will be...

Looking for a quiet 63v charger - ideas?

What is your 15S battery composed of? 4 Ah isn't much and if you are charging at 1C the fans probably wouldn't even come on on my chargers. I say that because when they get down to about 6 Amps at the end of the charge of my 10 Ah packs and are balancing they do switch off.

    Rear hub motor choice

There is a disk brake version (speed 600) but the HS11 on the front will be lighter and it is not a heavy bike, lighter than the Decathlon one I am looking at in any case.

    Rear hub motor choice

I'm looking for a new home for the mxus now and unfortunately the neighbour rode up on this... Lapierre speed 400 A thing of beauty (to the eye of the beholder) Just missing an NCX and a better saddle and a HS11 on the front. I think I would go the whole hog and put the RST mono-shock fork...

Unbelievably bad experience with a Haibike SDURO Trekking S RX

I think he is a fool, his bike is covered by a 12 month warranty, he has consumer protection he should just get on with getting the 12 month warranty into play. Maybe because he is English he doesn't understand EU consumer protection?

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Some Yank ..... (<= kiwi farmer son word that bad word filter doesn't like) said that I am too old to be behind a computer screen. I "can't understand" only the young hold that knowledge - maybe because I taught it to quite a number of them? So what is left for someone speaking three European...

First look at the new Woosh 26 x 4 Rio

If large tyred electric bikes had been on the market when I was a farm hand I probably would have had one. Fat bikes are for fat people? I don't speak much American these days... ;)

    Brexit, for once some facts.

So the people want to know which are the 16 (or 15 if you are from the PRC) countries holding out and not buying Nissan cars? We need trade négociations in place immediately with those countries so that they buy British assembled, Franco/Japanese cars... o_O ROTFL

Bafang BBS01 mechanical error (creaking when pedalling)

At the moment I am breaking in a new set of cranks and so I am riding with the crank key in the pannier. They do creak, I don't know what Isis ones creak like but mine creak like square taper ones :p The will eventually settle in and stop making noise like the last set did. (I hope...)

Unbelievably bad experience with a Haibike SDURO Trekking S RX

EU consumer protection says 12 month guarantee on products like pedelecs. So if it is new it is under guarantee. If it broke by itself (bad moulding for example) easy to prove. If it was broken any other way there is a shock mark on the plastic or brake lever. I have a Magura on the front, lets...
