EBMA files an anti dumping complaint on chinese e-bikes.

They won't back out... UK customers will just pay more for the products they want. Only the UK customers loose out. The UK market isn't big enough to suddenly create UK only brands even if it were possible.

Its not trying to stop you selling bikes is it? Hasn't Wisper already given the solution? Import in component form, offer UK made bikes... employ more people in the UK and add about £100.00 to the RRP. This is what the solution is, its what all the bicycle brands have evolved to do and I'm...

EBMA files an anti dumping complaint on chinese e-bikes.

Yes, but by that logic, you'd tax a normal bike at the component rate wouldn't you. Which you don't. You either import it as compoents, at the lower rate, or import it built at the higher rate. Which means you employ people in the EU to build it and you can advertise a "made in .... "...

You're looking at the wrong thing. Does it hurt Brompton, Orange, Cotic, or any of the host of smaller Uk based bicycle brands who benefit from not having to compete with the Chinese? The industries you mention have set up to work in the anti dumping environment.... all the big brands you...

Just so you know its not being targeted at Chinese eBikes... its something the whole bike industry has been dealing with for years. This from yesterday. http://www.bike-eu.com/laws-regulations/nieuws/2018/06/eu-starts-review-anti-dumping-measures-regular-bicycle-imports-china-10133846

Just so we're clear.... what everyone voted for yes. It's not going to be a beneficial thing.

You said it went straight to the EU... no mention of the Nation States collecting from it, and benefiting from it. You made out the EU was doing it because it needed the cash. It was these points I was attempting to correct you on.

So... as I've pointed out. your statement is wrong and your suspicion that they are imposing the duty because they need the cash, is I suspect a little bit paranoid.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I can't tell you anything... but I can have some guesses. How many seats... 0 but let me reply to your question with a question. The referendum was a binary choice, a future election wouldn't be. So if you're a traditional labour voter with labour values, you may well have voted leave, but...

Do you need someone following you around with a fact check button?... I'd say at least 20% of what you post is simply nonsense. This from literally last week, shows that you're wrong. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/may/29/labour-mps-fear-brexit-voters-unfounded-study

Really... you think the EU collects the duty? You don't think its collected by the nation states, in this country lets maybe call it something like HMRC? When you pay the duty you pay currently who do you pay it to? Edit... just to be clear I was being sarcastic. I'd better post the correct...

Yes, £5k is crazy money for an electric bike... why for that money, I can get a set of whole wheels for my normal bike. https://www.sigmasports.com/item/Lightweight/Meilenstein-Carbon-Clincher-Disc-Wheelset-Schwarz-Edition/F025 or 1/2 of a watch ;)...

UK - legality of thumb-throttles in DIY conversions

Your saying eBikes should allow riders to reach the top speeds that fit cyclists can?.. that isn't the point is it? Isn't the point to enable people to get to their destination as quickly as a fast cyclist? There is a difference. I've done a lot of testing with eBikes and normal, and I'm a...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The problem is voters elect MPs to do what is best for the country, which is not always what is popular. So if Brexit is a bad idea, it doesn't matter if its popular, MPs have a duty to stop it.

Just to add some facts to this assumption. Strava is used my a decent % of cyclists, and its usually the faster ones. http://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/latest-news/british-cyclists-fastest-in-world-strava-303384 average speed of cyclists in the UK on strava... 25.61Kph. So quite a bit less...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

In the sense that it makes another of the supposed points of Brexit pointless, and therefore more likely and easier for us to just roll back in again at some point in the transition period, that's clearly going to be transitioning back into the EU, not out of it ;)

2 problems with that statement. a) we really didn't... pre EU things weren't going that great in the UK. b) pre EU, the EU wasn't there.... if we leave we'll be competing with it on the increasingly global competitive market. Pre EU, we weren't competing with it, because it didn't exist.

Yes, but it was a British Act... which was my point. I wasn't really saying it was aimed at specifically at Germany was I? I was simply repeated what I was told by a German factory that the "Made in Germany" tag came about because of the British, and the Germans are now very happy about that...
