    Could this be the future?

Well spotted SW! I haven't seen one in the flesh yet, they are about 15 km from my home and are doing a pilot test with the post office. I think the range and charging time is calculated around that type of usage rather than private use.

    Equifax

1984 was on the tele about 10 days ago, lots of good ideas for a comfy society in there. I would want to belong to the class that gets to drink wine instead of cheap gin though...

How best to deal with bad drivers?

There is often a phone number on trucks here with the question "What do you think of my driving?"

The "death" of the car, (as we know it)

Driver-less cars make sense as taxis. Car ownership in a large city didn't make sense for me in 2007, rental was much more logical. I lived within walking distance of the rental company and they had a frequent user program. Also when you are a frequent user you get better service and are often...

The "death" of the car, (as we know it)

If you look at what is happening in the UK without looking at the overall picture in the EU you could possibly think the guy is nuts. From where I am sitting there are thousands of square meters of PV panels being installed each year within my pedelec riding range! There is even a factory making...

How best to deal with bad drivers?

A friendly middle finger salute might have encouraged him to pass sooner but he may not have left you much space on the road... Ignore them is my strategy. The other day a bus used its horn because I was on the road and not the cycle path next to it. There had been a bit of wind and the cycle...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

My video link applies to brexit as well, it is about disruption and your financial "markets" (racket, ponzi scheme) upon which your economy relies is probably about to have a rude awakening.

Peoples thoughts on my (planned) first build?

My Magura blocks are the original ones and have over 5900 km with still a bit left... On the other hand the Avid rear brake blocks need to be changed after 2000 km and I don't use the rear brake much at all. My projectile is over 25 kg and they stop me just fine from well over 30 mph (57.2 km/h...

Peoples thoughts on my (planned) first build?

The front brake is the important one you can put a Magura HS11 on there and it will stop just fine. A good quality 250 W hub motor your 52 V battery and a 15 Amp 48 V controller will be much better than a 1000W direct drive hub.

    road safety with electric cars

Some modern petrol and diesel cars are almost silent! I cross a blind pedestrian crossing quite often and it scares me silly because you don't hear them coming before you step out. If a car comes up behind you it is their responsibility to pass you without putting you in danger. Mirrors help...

    Night Riders - Canal Routes

I work nights so often ride on my nights off. On the open road of course. No trafic means I can steepen the learning curve a little and chuck the trike around using much more tarmac. Night trike rides are off the menu from December to April though. And of course I ride home from my Thursday...

non pneumatic tyres - good investment?

I was reading about tyres last night on Marc's excellent triking blog. He runs overpowered (illegal) hub motors on his trikes, trikes are bike tyres toughest testing platform, his trikes add into the mix about 1.5 kW at the rear wheel. And he doesn't have a car and does many thousands of km a...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The world is failing because of capitalism. It isn't capitalism's fault, just the greedy SOBs who have twisted the rules so much that capitalism is no longer capitalism but a huge ponzi scheme. Speculation is not capitalism, it is capitalism's cancer which is eating it from within. Oh and...

    What Bosch motor for commuting?

The best Bosch for commuting is a Yamaha... Yamaha offers chainring options the Bosch doesn't and if your commuting involves the foothills of a mountain chain (mine does) then Yamaha powered bikes offer the best compromise. A commuter with a hub motor and a pinion gearbox would be at the very...

The "death" of the car, (as we know it)

I am more radical in my thinking. I don't believe individual car ownership is the way forward, rental is a much better solution. Individual short range transport is the issue and that's is what this forum is all about. Today I was informed by an open letter to the President Macron from the...
