Without complicating things it'll still go at the speed you wish to go at, so if you want to do say 18 mph just adjust the effort you put in, you can of course fine tune things by using the lowest power setting. It isn't going to suddenly turn into some sort of uncontrollable beast of a machine.

The drive side bearing on the newer Bosch motors with a small front sprocket is this one according to this thread. The bearing on the other side wasn't available for my Bosch Classic motor, so it is still running on the original bearing.

I've had two Kenda tyres come away from the wire beading too, with exactly the same consequences to the tubes.

I've done around 10,000 miles on a Bosch classic, I've replaced the drive-side bearing twice now, although the second change wasn't really required. I can't understand these riders who do that, and there are quite a lot out there who have this bizarre attitude.

Sorry, I misread your question a little.

Not true, I often change up a gear to get more torque from my bike, seems counterintuitive, and down to the way the system is programmed. ETA. Dipping back into the peak torque rpm, where I'd prefer to be spinning a little bit more.
