    Making a shortlist!

is there an advantage to a mixed approach to brakes? (I see the Santana has disc at the front, V at the back.) Yes. Disc brakes are usually most effective at the front where most of the braking is done, so it pays to have for a good set of brakes in the front. The Santana has SRAM Avid disc...

M2S Carbon Lightweight for US market

I always wonder if there is a point to use carbon frames with e-bikes. The carbon parts save about 1kg - 1.2kg in total weight, so the pull factor must be the curves. Curves work in cars, making small cars look expensive - should they work the same way in bikes?

to be an EAPC, it has to cut assistance at 25kph. So it can't go over 25kph on flat roads however fit the cyclist is.

Car makers entering the e-bike world

the guy is a bit unfair comparing the achievement of modern bikes against modern cars. A drivetrain of a car will weigh 10-100 times more than a whole bike. If bikes are to compete against cars, we'll need to pitch e-motorbikes against cars, not EAPCs.

    Leaving the EU

our net contribution to the EU budget is about 6.5 billions last year, after rebate and EU spending in the UK. that figure is a fraction of the 100 billions in gross product generated by about 3 - 3.5 millions EU migrants. If you are an economist, you would welcome EU immigrants, they are about...

    Leaving the EU

But ebikes (just an example product) don't seem to fall in price when the pound strengthens. Yes, that's often the case. The distributors simply help themselves to a bigger slice. When the Pound weakens, electricity, petrol, supermarkets, you name it, wish rush to put prices up. They exploit...

    Leaving the EU

I believe we will do better than most countries in the EU, whether we are in or out because we are richer and better resourced than most baring perhaps Germany and France. If we vote to remain, there won't be much if any change. if we vote to leave, there will be winners and losers. The winners...

    Woosh Zephyr-B review

Powerwise, all three are about the same, the Krieger has a slight edge because it's a chain drive, if you select the right gear for the terrain, you may get perhaps 10% more out of it. The Santana2 has 18A controller instead of 20A, so it has about 90% of the power of the Zephyr-B. And would...

    Leaving the EU

little chance of that, these people are all professional spin doctors. I watch all the 'EU referendum specials' on Newsnight and invariably, the audience is easily swayed by the Brexiters. Nothing to do with good or bad points, it's just that the Brexiters appear to be patriotic, therefore hit a...

d8veh is right, the front wheel is a standard part, 26" rim, quick release with 180mm rotor, you can buy a replacement on ebay for about £30. The rear wheel is a motor wheel. It's not easy to nick without tools. It has two small torque arms fitted. A replacement rear BPM wheel with 180mm rotor...

    Leaving the EU

that's an exaggeration of the EU ecodesign directive. The directive encourages manufacturers to improve efficiency to save on electricity, not the way that many journalists tried to get a story out of it. The second objective is to harmonize standards between member countries, hence the ban on...
