    27.5 bad for road use?

A neighbour bought a 27.5" bike and found it very difficult to find a new back wheel locally when the hub failed. Lots of our local bike shops carry 26 & 29/700C wheels in stock, something to think about if you want problems fixed quickly.

Comment on another sad e-scooter death

I agree with some of your points but think you've missed something Charging. I know 2 people who are waiting for their first EV (Tessla) to be delivered. One lives in a rental property and can't/won't fit a charger, the other has been waiting months to have a charger installed (due to problems...

    shadow banned from emtb forums

I've been getting weird results on different websites, I suspect it's either my machine or the setting on it rather than anything to be concerned about. Maybe try a different machine (laptop, mobile, PC, etc) and see if things start working again ? Hope you get it sorted, you have very...

    Viking Diamo Front Forks

I had a similar problem last year with an older "Town" bike and found plenty of cheap options at Bankrupt Bike Parts (they had stores on Ebay & Amazon), more info https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/kemp-starley-dutch-town-bike-out-of-hibernation.37181/post-582876 Hope it helps, ask if any...

    Fire at ebike showroom

Interesting Tesla articles : fire at the California battery site (6 months after opening), also self-driving video (neat, but I prefer to control my car not use autopilot).

    Making my eBike less illegal

Hi, not my type of work but I see 2 things you need to check : It looks like a compact bike, if you fit pedals will they (or your toes) hit the front wheel - it looks like there will be very little space between them when you're pedalling. The rear wheel isn't the type you can just fix a set...

    Yoikoto

I got a set of suspension forks for £25 from Bankrupt-bike-parts and they updated an old worn out bike very nicely ! https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/kemp-starley-dutch-town-bike-out-of-hibernation.37181/post-582876

    Refurb/rebuild

Hi, background about my Yose kit. About 1,500 kms on bike1, downtube battery fitted on the rear rack and hidden behind panniers https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/yose-350-rear-hub-kit-onto-spanish-mtb-by-mondraker.37899/ Kit was then stripped off, converted from Lisui controller to KT...

    Refurb/rebuild

I bought a Yose kit with 36v battery about 2 years ago, soon upgraded the controller and set the current as high as possible before the battery / controller cut out (thermal overload?) From memory I got cutouts when set at 18A, it's been set at 17A ever since and often used at max assist levels...

why is this even up for debate?

I have family in Denmark, drivers there they are very alert to any cyclists near junctions. As it was explained to me, in a collision between a car and cyclist the car driver is assumed to be guilty regardless of the actions (or lack of) by the cyclist. Cyclists crossing junctions without...

    Fiido D4 or D4s

Check how many gears they have. I looked at Fido 2 years ago, the xxS had gears, no S was the single speed model. Let us know :D

do expensive sunglasses make any difference to cheap ones.

I wear sunglasses most of the time: Stops dust etc. My eyes are sensitive to bright light I prefer good quality lenses, no need to be expensive - my backup pair are bolle tinted safety specs from screwbfix for £10. My priority is no distortion, some cheap lenses just feel “wrong”.

    MXUS xf07 270rmp general discussion & info

I have the LCD4 and like it a lot, it gives me P,C, and the "other" menu (extended C ?), nice and compact. The only downside is it has no display to show the current being taken by the motor, I think only the larger diplays (LCD3 etc?) show the current.

    MXUS xf07 270rmp general discussion & info

Hi, I'm interested to know what you think about the XF07 when you start to use it, I have been looking at getting a XF08 (rear) to upgrade my Yose / KT kit. How does it compare power / torque etc, and is it plug-n-play compatible with Yose / KT kit? ( I know I'll need to use an extension as the...

converting to non suspension front forks

Discussions in the past say you can expect problems with geometry, suspension forks raise the front of the bike - if you replace with fixed forks the front of the bike will be lower. I fitted a set of £25 Suntrour suspension forks last year and they're been fine on my town bike, you might find...

Can anyone see from this video why the back wheel is doing this? Tar

Hi. The clutch is a round disk with 3 planet gears mounted on it. The central "core" of the clutch should rotate freely when turned in one direction and lock up when turned in the other direction. For a (very !) exploded view of a typical clutch see post #2 and post #6 on my build thread...

cycle with or against the traffic when using a cycle lane?

I aways cycle with the traffic as that's the direction other road users should be looking. When walking I go against the traffic so I can see anything well before it reaches me, from Highway code rule 2 for pedestrians : "If there is no pavement, keep to the right-hand side of the road so that...

Drunk e-scooter rider on Cheltenham hen do banned from driving after weaving in and out of traffic

Drunk e-scooter rider on Cheltenham hen do banned from driving after weaving in and out of traffic

I don't own an E-scooter and have no plans to get one but I thought they were in the same class as legal 250w E-bikes, ie no licence or insurance required, no drink-drive limits. I'm surprised the courts see it differently and banned the rider for 18 months. To avoid confusion, I'm not...
