Why is so much illegal 'commuting' not policed ?

Police have at least a couple of problems, their priorities are set by public opinion / political pressure, and they have big problems with staff recruitment, training, and morale. Police in my area often don't turn up for reports of theft & vandalism so I'm sure cyclists don't even register...

    Rockshox fork upgrade

If you have an older bike with basic forks and they're worn, you might find a set of new budget forks make a big improvement. I was using an older Dutch town bike, the budget Suntour forks had a lot of play in them. Fitting a new set of budget forks made the bike a lot nicer to ride and smoothed...

Moving a rack battery to a different part of a frame

At best, it will work but be untidy. Will your battery physically fit in your frame triangle? Frame-style batteries normally have a tapered end for a neater fit. Best case (I guess) would be to put your battery on edge (thin side of the battery to one of the frame tubes) and see how it looks...

    Tire Pressure....

Good point about your forks being curved, somebody who knows more will be along soon to comment but my guess it you're right - standard fork would be too straight. If you buy forks be aware there are 2 common types of fitting, "threaded" (look for a large nut below the handlebar stem) or...

    Tire Pressure....

My riding is similar to yours (same weight bike + rider + luggage, badly surfaced roads) My village highstreet is a mess - half my lane is badly surfaced as in your photo - I always ride near the white line regardless of any traffic behind me. It's just a few hundred yards, my speed isn't too...

GPS Trackers: Police might help get your stolen bike back?

You have a lot more faith in the police force than I have. My personal experiences: a crowd of teens broke into my house at 2pm in the afternoon when I was asleep after a nightshift, I rang police - they said don't touch anything and an officer will be there to check for fingerprints. An...

    AI cameras recognise texting drivers

Riding one handed is something that wouldn't happen in an ideal world, but we don't live in one. Removing a hand to signal a turn, adjust sunglasses, or scratch an itch are all part of normal riding for me. As a youngster, riding no-hands was a common way to fine tune cycle control, and the...

Lishui Bluetooth Controller, programming the easy way

Hi @tutur The dongle I got from Woosh 3 years ago worked but I'm afraid I can't remember anything that will help you. I think I found a few (3?) types of software online, when I found one that worked and let me change some settings, I stopped trying to get the others to connect. I didn't spend...

Lithium-ion blaze aboard ship - specialist crews en route

Another ship is ablaze - started when the battery on an electric car caught fire. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12338705/One-sailor-dead-23-evacuated-burning-18-500-tonne-cargo-ship-carrying-3-000-cars-North-Sea-Holland-electric-vehicle-caught-fire.html Adding this here rather than...

    Rewire KT-LCD4 display

In the past I have seen a mention that 9 pin KT wiring includes a circuit for lights, the 8 pin KT wiring doesn't. If (a big if!) that's right, I'd expect it to be possible to connect 8 & 9 pin KT equipment if you can rewire the connections. Comms issues still rule out connecting KT & non-KT...

    Illegal ebike crackdown Coventry

I experienced similar "over enthusiastic" policing when I was riding at walking pace though a shopping street in North Shields (nr Sunderland). It was just before 4pm on a cold, damp, dark Sunday in February with less than 10 pedestrians in the whole town. I visited the police station...

Conversion kit to make an e bike.

I have a Yose kit, it was my first conversion kit / Ebike and I was impressed. After I changed the display & controller to KT items I like it a lot more. As supplied, Yose works well but I found it basic and crude. Converting to KT gave alot more options to set it the way I like, and changed the...

Adding throttle to Yose Power pedal assist kit

@gersrt & anyone curious, my KT throttle works without pedaling and settings for my 36 volt 27" / 29er MTB are below (check P4 setting for pedal assist !) Menus. Turn display *ON - up & down together, on to save & progress - up & down together - up & down together Menu = 72 / 26" / kmh...

Adding throttle to Yose Power pedal assist kit

I have the same Yose controller but it's not fitted to a bike at present. A thought (as I can't remember how the system worked when I was using it), are you trying to use the throttle from a standstill or to use it once you're moving? On the bike I'm using now the throttle works without...

Help! Best of conversion kits review

Hi, good advice above but also think about : Reviews - look for ones where people have used the kit for at least a few months. Any review that starts "I just fitted a new kit and this is what I think.." won't include what's good and poor in everyday use. Remember that a kit bought just a few...

    Yosepower hub kits.

I'm still using the battery and motor from my Yose kit but I removed the controller & display and replaced them with a KT controller & display. The Yose system worked fine but (after using the KT) I found it very crude. The KT can be set to work the way you want it to and is a lot smoother to ride.

    Yosepower hub kits.

Hi, I got a kit from Yose about 2 years ago - different to yours but they might work the same way. On mine, the battery has 1 button and 1 key lock. The key on the battery is not an on/off switch, all it does is secures the battery to the bike (but for things to work, the battery has to be...
