    Planetary gear removal

Hi, my motor is different but similar enough to be helpful. You need to remove the bearing from the shaft first (tyre leavers , screwdrivers as elevers, bear puller?) on mine the bearing came off with the sidecover. Then I could remove the large rusty plate holding the 3 nylon cogs using just...

    Handlebar Extension

Hi, a few people on here have suggested raised handlebars made by company on-one rather than fitting a stem extender. https://www.planetx.co.uk/c/q/components/finishing-kit/handle-bars Could the shop you bought it from help maybe exchange it for a larger size as it you bought what they...

Flog it or break it for spares?

Hi. I'm not an expert but a quick look at the bike makes me think you should be OK to swap the working motor from your bike to your wifes. Put the best battery onto hers, put her noisy motor onto yours then sell yours as a complete E-bike for spares or repairs? Or keep it yourself for spares...

    Panniers for grocery shopping.

I have a rack mounted battery on a strong frame, cheap panniers + plastic crate bolted on top. Ideal for shopping and can even carry a full size inflatable paddle board

    length of lockdown?

@Chainring - I wasn't going to say anything but I have to agree with you. The Guardian has an interesting article which says its all carefully planned. It could be total fiction or it could be more accurate than we'd like to think...

    Yose power Battery with rack

Hi, I fitted a similar style (but with a single front fixing to my mudguard mounting). I like it, the bike is quite tail-heavy but rides fine. Check your frame has holes to mount the rear supports (do you have holes for a mudguard? I had to make plates to fit over the axle) The kit looks like...

    Stem extender

I installed one last month, it seemed to fit OK but on first ride I found it wasn't 100% secured so I had to retighten (overtightened?) the bolts when I got home. Surely clamping it in a vice has to close up the new extension til the gap becomes nil? Or have I misunderstood ?

    Geared/high torque 48v motor

Hi, maybe look into mobility scooters. I don't know what systems or voltages they use but many have been converted as diy projects. Gearbox may be a problem (they often use rear axle with differential) but maybe the motor and controls would be OK for you.

Help! Lishui controller and LCD vs KT controller and LCD

Thanks for confirming, same as you I'm thinking I'd like to try a KT controller & display to see if I prefer the way they operate.

Help! Lishui controller and LCD vs KT controller and LCD

Mine feels the same. It makes no sense, the freewheel works fine and should make drag impossible.

As requested, I originally found it https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/lishui-bluetooth-controller-programming-the-easy-way.24210/#post-306086

Yose 350 rear hub kit - onto Spanish mtb by Mondraker

Just a quick update as today marked 500kms (in just over 3 weeks), the bike is very smooth but some of the system configuration is not the way I’d like it. https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/lishui-controller-and-lcd-vs-kt-controller-and-lcd.36444/ The good news is I’ve found a few new...

Help! Lishui controller and LCD vs KT controller and LCD

For info, speed cutoff on the Lishui controller varies depending on battery charge, I tested using the throttle while the rear wheel was suspended from the ceiling. Results below. Assist level - km/h range (low charge 35.3v - high charge 41.6v) #1 14-17 km/h #2 20-24 #3 24-29 #4 27-32 #5 32-38...

Help! Lishui controller and LCD vs KT controller and LCD

Some thoughts after my first 500km using a Lishui controller (supplied as part of a 350W kit by Yose), as it makes sense to keep all Lishui / KT comparisons in one place. There's no need for a key to turn the bike on, anyone can use the on/off button when the bike is parked. Not ideal. Once...

    Halfords/Spare Batteries.

Hi, if the battery has a part number or similar on it, maybe share it here and somebody might be able to suggest where to get a replacement? Try a different Halfords branch? I was curious to know if the Halfords fork problems I'd seen photos of were unusual. Sadly they're not, for many other...

    E-Scooter trials.

Some background from Europe to compare with UK. I'm in Portugal for the next few months and have been trying to find out what's legal here regarding e-bikes & e-scooters. Local bike shops only sell 250w assembled e-bikes. Hire places only have 500w (illegal?) e-bikes to rent. No need for...

    Help! Double kickstand help

Hi, on motorcycles I use the centre-stand when I need the bike stable. If you search for bicycle-centre-stand or bicycle-bipod-stand you might find something with a fitting to suit your bike. (or maybe somebody with more experience of bikes like yours can have a look and offer advice) Maybe...

The tale of a £100 second hand electric bike.

Cheap bikes are great fun, I'm doing something similar with a €100 (approx £90) Dutch city bike that's been unused for years. I've found the 24v battery is getting slightly better every time I charge it so it gets charged one day then connected to 2x12v car lights the next day to flatten it. It...

    Halfords/Spare Batteries.

Halford (Halfrauds?) are well known to classic car owners. Opening hours are great but staff knowledge / attitude /CS is often terrible. Servicing my car, I took the "spin-on" oil filter to them and asked for a new one. They insisted I give them my registration number then refused to sell me...

    Bewildered!

I spent most of last year exploring north Devon coast on a mountain bike I've had for near 20 years. Lovely area but some of the hills are savage - I ended up using gears I'd never needed before on the bike ! Suggest you look for something designed for hills not for speed. How heavy are you both...
