    I'm bent!

Since I moved in September the trike has been out once... :( My rent is much lower (I could buy a new factory built e-bike every year with the difference!) but there are steep hills all around. That also means everyone uses their car and they do not respect the speed limit - most are at least...

    Number Two

Replaced my Magura HS11 brake shoes after about 7,000 km. I really should have done it sooner! Wear has greatly increased since I moved to a steep area last September and I am also doing many more km a week now. +1 for the ease of maintenance on these brakes, way to go Magura! Riding home it...

Are Ebikes more or less vulnerable to theft than standard bikes?

My bike frame and fork were found in a skip, the kit is the expensive part, though all told I have spent about 1200€ - wheels, brakes, seat-post, the list is endless... I have all the receipts and a good insurance company, I use a Gold rated frame-lock and chain. My next pedelec will be an...

    Orbea Gain auxiliary battery

I can ask in a Spanish bike shop if you like. I saw my first Orbea Gain in the flesh this week. I fell immediately in love like you would do with a Spanish woman, they have a certain je ne sais quoi, SWMBO has her origins south of the border...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I have lots of personal issues, living in the denial of facts isn't one of them... The populist right wing is 26% of the EU's population, I already posted that figure a while back. Now if we were in the USA that would be a presidential majority but in the EU only in Austria. For those who have...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

What predictions? My prediction is that several of the countries that the UK pushed to get into the EU will be put on the sideline. Orban is already menaced with going to court for not following the rules. According to the 2011 Hungarian census, there were 5,579 Muslims in Hungary, making up...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Well hey the good ole US of A is disappearing under a mountain of cheese you might get a good deal there! Most cheese produced in the USA is... wait for it... mozzarella! You can't make these things up, and here I was thinking that mozzarella was made from water buffalo milk in Italy...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

There is no propoganda. If you want to know what the EU does you have to go and look for the information yourself. The EU doesn't advertise on TV, doesn't buy advertising space in the press, has a small internet presence. Now go look up in a dictionary what "propoganda" means...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Paris is not France, no chaos here, sorry! I base my knowledge on living in the EU. The problem is the EU is not telling us enough about the good it has done, they leave that to national governments.

    Attitudes of non-ebikers

They are four wheelers here, I think that may be a legal requirement so only quadricycles. Note that many "Rosalies" are now pedelecs too.

    Attitudes of non-ebikers

The law would have gotten my correct use of the English language approval seal had it read "bicycles, tricycles and quadricycles", any more than four wheels is just showing no understanding of the forces in play when designing an HPV... I am not a huge fan of the American version of the English...

    KT controller question

I have a three or four year old KT controller - 36v 15 A All of the wires bar one I can identify. The rogue wire has a male plug and is yellow and black, the yellow wire is connected to a small PCB soldered to the main one. It (the small PCB) has a diode and another black cylinder soldered to...

    PSWPower after sales service?

He wants to go back to internal PAS though... :) I use external because I managed to fry the internal one (learning experience - don't plug things in in the dark when you are tired/impatient). I recently found a replacement PAS board for the BBS0x which looks like it might work in the GSM. I...

    DIY controller housing?

I have one and it gets pretty hot in there during the summer. Hot enough to put the controller in thermal protection mode. You might have more luck in the UK...

    DIY controller housing?

Instead of gluing the heatsink to the controller I might just screw it on in place of the original cover. Inside this KT 15 amp controller there are 7 x 50v caps, my guess is you would need to replace them all if you want to run at 48 v so it is just much easier to get a 48v controller instead...

    DIY controller housing?

Heat is your number two enemy, water is your number one enemy. With those factors in mind: - Plywood does not conduct heat. - if you use a bag it must be big enough to contain plenty of air - bags need to be vented without letting water in - commercial plastic controller boxes get hot inside

    Yosepower hub kits.

Here is an interesting controller: http://www.topbikekit.com/36v48v-6mosfets-sine-wave-controller-for-hailong-case-52pcs-cells-p-695.html It needs a cover and a heatsink but you could do 48v x 15 Amps
